Volunteer Opportunities

PARENT/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The school district is fortunate to have strong parental involvement In our schools. Parental involvement is important to our programs. Parents and teachers stay in touch to encourage student performance. Strong parent organizations support the work of all District schools. Parents and community members support the School District by participating in our active Parent/Teacher organizations; volunteering as tutors or chaperones, sharing ideas at school building team meetings, attending student performances and so much more.

Community stakeholders also partner with the school by providing expert guidance on one of the District’s many advisory boards or assisting with one of the many organizations that partner’s with the district. A sampling of parent and community organizations include:

PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATIONS

BOOSTER CLUBS

The District is fortunate to have several booster clubs supporting our athletic and arts programs. These clubs provide invaluable support.

• Athletic Boosters: A non-profit, volunteer-run organization that is committed to supporting Shorewood athletics primarily through fund-raising. The support generated by the club goes towards uniforms, athletic equipment, PA systems, end of season banquets, field renovations, and our athletic trainer. It is a behind-the-scenes organization that truly makes a difference in the community.

• Orchestra Boosters: Support and enhancement of the orchestra program is the main goal of the Orchestra Booster Club. The Shorewood Orchestra Boosters have provided funding for guest artists and clinicians, classroom equipment, orchestra awards and certificates, and summer camp scholarships.  The Boosters are also crucial to facilitating student fundraising for SIS and SHS orchestra trips.

• Choir Booster Club: Choir Boosters are currently seeking a parent volunteer to take charge of fundraising and providing other support for the SHS choir. The choral program is supported by a variety of booster events, including a benefit concert. Anyone who is interested in helping out can contact Jason Clark, Choir Director.

• Band Booster Club: The Band Booster Club supports the district-wide band program including the fundraiser that is part of the last concert of the year.
