10 Interesting Facts About Shorewood schools

  1. In 2013, US. News & World Report named Shorewood High School (SHS) the number one high school in Wisconsin. Click here for more information. 
  2. The District values the expertise and support from organizations and businesses across the community and region. These partnerships broaden our students’ experiences.
  3. The District has students from 36 countries who speak 32 languages. More than 10% of our students have a first language other than English. Our English Language Learners program supports the whole family.
  4. Shorewood Intermediate School was named a Mix it Up Model School for its efforts to foster respect and understanding among students. In 2012, Lake Bluff Elementary was named a National School of Character. 
  5. Year after year, our high school ACT results are among the highest in Southeastern Wisconsin and are above state and national averages.
  6. On average 90% of students continue their education at two or four-year colleges located across the United States.
  7. The Advanced Learning Program offers more than 16 different clubs and programs, and contests throughout the year to elementary students at Atwater and Lake Bluff.  It also serves high achieving students in middle and high school. Click here to learn more about our art programs. 
  8. Our student centered approach to Special Education and small student-to-teacher ratio assures students accomplish their goals and succeed. Our high school transition program, which works to provide students with real-world work experience, currently has partnerships with 16 local businesses.   9. Our nationally recognized performing and creative arts program inspires student creativity and helps them develop self-discipline and communication skills. In 2013, the SHS Drama program received 13 Tommy Nominations for its productions of Spring Awakening and Godspell. 
  10. Our Athletic Department offers 23 sports across all seasons. In the fall of 2012, Shorewood was ranked third in the Wisconsin Sports Network Cup standings for the fall sports season, behind Madison Edgewood and Arrowhead, and was in the top five for medium schools for all sports seasons in 2012.
