Dear Shorewood High School Parents and Guardians,
On Tuesday, February 28th the state of Wisconsin will require all juniors to participate in an ACT test to be administered by a student's high school of attendance. The results of this assessment can be used by the student for college applications and will be used by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as part of Shorewood High School's Annual School Report Card. Like last year, we will be adjusting the SHS calendar to accommodate this assessment. Our goal is to provide our junior students with the best environment possible for success on this important test.
On Tuesday, February 28th ONLY JUNIORS will be required to attend school. There will be NO SCHOOL for freshman, sophomores, or seniors on Tuesday, February 28th. Freshmen, sophomore, and senior students should not be on campus on this day. Please note that this is a change from the Shorewood School District's published calendar. This will allow juniors to take their ACT test in homeroom groups, in classrooms, and with multiple teacher proctors instead of taking the test in the Arena with the entire junior class, as was the case a few years ago. Only having juniors in attendance will also help ensure that a distraction free testing environment exists. Juniors should arrive for testing at 8:05 AM and will be dismissed from school at the conclusion of testing at approximately 12:35 PM.
Classes will resume for all students on Wednesday, March 1st. All freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will attend their regularly scheduled classes. Juniors will participate in the second assessment that is required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, ACT WorkKeys. On this day, all juniors should report to the Arena at 8:05 AM. Once juniors complete this assessment they will rejoin the regular school day.
More specific information regarding the February 28th ACT test and the March 1st ACT WorkKeys test will be sent to junior families in the near future. If you have any questions about ACT testing, please feel free to contact the high school office at 414-963-6921.
