Black History Luncheon
On Friday, March 21, Shorewood High School hosted its second annual Black History Luncheon with current African American students as well as African American SHS graduates. This lunch gave former SHS students a chance to mentor current Greyhounds while reconnecting with the school and District.
The lunch began with a welcome by Shorewood Superintendent Dr. Marty Lexmond followed by words of encouragement State Senator Lena Taylor. After introductions, students and alumni shared their Shorewood experiences, and discussed a variety of thoughtful topics, including race and academic success, and how to establish anti-racist representations and behavior. SHS Principal Tim Kenney gave the event’s closing remarks. Below are photos from today’s event.
