Shorewood Spring Yard Clean Up Brings Community Together

The annual Shorewood Connects Spring Yard Clean Up, held on Saturday May 4th from 9am-12pm, was a big success. Over 120 volunteers including students, staff, families, and community members gathered together to help out 26 senior citizen with their yard work and other various outdoor tasks.
The volunteers had this to say about the experience:
"Our homeowner was so grateful! It was a really good experience for the boys, and I hope we can make it a tradition.”
"Yesterday my seven-year-old daughter and I participated for the first time in the spring yard clean up. What a wonderful experience it was! We were able to help out a neighbor just two blocks from our house, and began a casual friendship that I hope can continue into the future. Clearly the weather helped us, too! I believe my daughter and I took from the experience the amazing benefits of helping others. I am hoping this is the start of a regular volunteer event for us. Thank YOU and your team for organizing!"
