Shorewood School Board Approves Adding Student Representatives

The Board values student input and voice, and in an effort to explicitly include student voices in governance matters, the Board unanimously voted at Tuesday’s regular meeting to approve the addition of two student representatives to the Board.

Each student selected will be asked to participate in one Board meeting per month. Students will be tasked with listening to and deliberating on agenda items, as well as communicating the work of the Board to the rest of the student body.

An email was sent to all Shorewood High School students on Thursday, May 30, encouraging students to consider submitting applications, which are due June 7th. The tentative schedule is to interview interested rising sophomores, juniors and seniors the week of June 17th, and once student representatives are selected, the students will begin their duties in September 2019 with the start of the upcoming school year.
