Shorewood Fall Yard Cleanup Brings Community Together

The annual Shorewood Connects Fall Yard Cleanup, held on Saturday, November 9th, from 9am-12pm, was a big success despite the chilly weather. Over 200 volunteers including students, staff, families, and community members gathered together to help out 35 senior citizens prepare their yards for the winter.

"The homeowners were so appreciative and we've received a lot of wonderful feedback about the experience and our volunteers," says Vashti Lozier, Shorewood parent and chair of the cleanup efforts. "We say that 'it's not about the leaves' and that is really true. It’s about being there for your neighbor and doing what you can to lighten their burden. Thanks to the cleanup, community members know that they are cared about and not alone, and they feel the love. Shorewood is a better place because of our volunteers."
