Nomination Period for Excellence in Teaching Award Now Open

The District is pleased to announce that the nomination period for the Shorewood Excellence in Teaching Award is now open. The annual award recognizes teachers who demonstrate a deep commitment to academic and artistic achievement, model professional and innovative teaching practices, and inspire students, colleagues, and the community through their dedication and leadership. A private donor has designated funds to be used solely for this purpose; no funds raised through Shorewood SEED Foundation are utilized for this award.

Eligible teachers can be nominated by their peers, students, community members or district parents. (Note: If you nominated a teacher in the past and he/she was not selected, please re-submit a new nomination for them to be considered this year.) After receiving a nomination, teachers have the option of participating in an application and review process in order to be considered for the award.

An independent volunteer committee comprised of highly accomplished professionals in education and leaders in the community will select the award recipients who will receive a monetary award. Each individual honoree will receive an award of $5,000.

The nomination form, eligibility requirements, and criteria for selection can be found here and should be submitted to [email protected]. The deadline for nominations is February 24. Recipients will be announced in June. Please see the complete timeline below.
