SHS Drama has won two "Outstanding Musical" Jerry Awards this year for their productions of Mamma Mia! from Spring 2019 and Urinetown from this past winter. Outstanding Musical is the highest honor a school can receive from the Jerry Awards organization, facilitated by the Overture Center of the Arts in Madison.
The Jerry Awards honors excellence in high school theatre for all of southern Wisconsin and the Jerry’s are Wisconsin’s wing of The National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA).
85 productions from the past season were adjudicated by three judges each, and SHS Drama is proud to accept TWO of the 16 Outstanding Musical awards given out (the only school to win two). Productions that win this award excel in all areas of the production - acting (leads, supporting roles, and ensemble), set design, sound, costuming, lighting, choreography, musical direction, props design, stage management, and direction.
