Shorewood High School Graduation Update

Dear Shorewood Parents and Community Members:

As a school district, we have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on in-person events, including our annual graduation ceremony. After reviewing guidance from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), we have made the difficult decision to postpone our graduation ceremony, originally scheduled for June 7.  We are acting out of an abundance of caution to protect the safety and well-being of our students and families.

SHS Principal Mr. Kenney has been working extensively with seniors and staff on a postponed date and they have selected Sunday, August 2, at 2:30 p.m. for the rescheduled in-person ceremony. If DHS orders do not allow the in-person ceremony to happen on that date, we will be providing a virtual graduation ceremony instead at the same date and time. We will keep you updated as the date approaches and we receive more information.

In the meantime, we will be celebrating the SHS Class of 2020 on social media and through other means to help ensure our seniors have the proper sendoff. We are very proud of all of the accomplishments our seniors have achieved.  Principal Kenney will be sending out more details regarding the Class of 2020 graduation activities in the next couple of weeks.

With that, I want to thank you for your patience, understanding, and flexibility during this time in our school community. The pandemic has caused considerable disruptions to our daily lives and has led to enormous challenges for our students, staff, and families. I am heartened to see us all support one another as we have figured out how to manage this situation together.

Sincerely,

Bryan Davis

Shorewood Schools Superintendent
