Important Updates from Superintendent Davis - June 26

Dear Shorewood Families,

I hope your summer is off to a good start. I just wanted to send a quick weekly update with some important information.

Shorewood High School Parking Lot

Construction begins on the SHS parking lot starting next Monday, June 29. Therefore, general parking will be unavailable to the community through mid to late August. For those looking to enter the high school, alternative general parking will be available in the Shorewood Intermediate School upper parking lot, located next to the track/field. The entrance to this lot is just north of the SIS building, off of Morris Blvd. For those looking to use the Fitness Center or for those who need handicap accessibility to the SHS campus, we ask that you please use the small parking lot in front of the Fitness Center, directly off of Oakland Ave.

Summer Food Service Program

The DPI recently approved our application to continue running our Aramark food service program throughout the summer. Starting next Monday, June 29- Friday, August 31, families will be able to receive free bagged breakfast and lunch every Monday-Thursday from 9:30-11:30 a.m outside the Shorewood Intermediate School front doors. Due to construction at SHS, the pickup site was changed to SIS and families can drive up through the front circle drive to receive their bagged meals. Any children who are ages 18-under are eligible and the students need not be present to receive the meals.

School Reopening Work Group

Last night, the District held its third School Reopening Work Group meeting. You can view the highlights from this meeting by clicking here. Throughout the summer, if you would like to review any of the School Reopening Work Group meeting highlights or upcoming agendas, you can always find them on the District website under District -> Work Groups & Interest Groups-> School Reopening Work Group.

This week, our subgroups discussed the following:

Teaching & Learning - Prioritization of hybrid models and full virtual learning

Health & Safety - Classroom and general school precautions

Be well and enjoy your weekend,

Dr. Bryan Davis
