Woodland Conference Delays Start of Low-Risk Sports

The Woodland Conference has announced that all sports deemed low risk by the WIAA (girls swim & dive, girls tennis, boys & girls cross country, girls golf), which were scheduled to start practice on Monday, August 17th, 2020 will be delayed one week and begin their season on Monday, August 24th, 2020.

This decision comes from a joint meeting of Woodland Conference stakeholders which included Superintendents and Athletic Directors, as Conference leadership moves forward in careful preparation for safe opportunities for our students, coaches and other athletic stakeholders.

The Woodland Conference is anticipating further information being released from the Department of Health Services, the WIAA and growing feedback to announcements related to high-risk sports. Discussions related to high-risk sports (volleyball, soccer, football, cheer, dance) will take place next week and those decisions could have an impact on our low-risk activities for this fall.

The Woodland is a 14-member Conference that includes Brown Deer, Cudahy, Greendale, Greenfield, Milwaukee Lutheran, New Berlin Eisenhower, New Berlin West, Pewaukee, Pius XI Catholic, Shorewood, South Milwaukee, West Allis Central, Whitnall, and Wisconsin Lutheran high schools.
