COVID-19 Burden Level Updates

January 31, 2021

Dear Shorewood Families,

I hope you had a chance to enjoy the new snowfall by engaging in some fun winter activities.  Our family has been embracing the cold by heading out for some ice fishing and taking walks in our winter wonderland.  Getting some sunshine and fresh air has been a welcome relief during these cold winter days.

The Covid-19  burden levels in the North Shore continue to trend in a good direction. The Shorewood Covid burden level for last week was: 251.

The status of each school level is as follows:

Elementary Schools - Burden Threshold <800 - Hybrid model began Monday, January 25. View photos from the first week in hybrid here.

SIS - Burden Threshold <400 - This past week was the second week under a 400 burden level. SIS will spend the next two weeks transitioning and will start hybrid learning on Monday, February 15.  Details on the transition period and the start of the hybrid learning model will be provided by Principal Joynt.

SHS - Burden Threshold <300 - This past week was our first week under a 300 burden level. If we are under a 300 burden level this upcoming week, we will then begin our two-week transition back to school in a hybrid learning model which would start on Monday, February 22.

District and school administrators will continue to monitor our community burden levels and will keep you posted on how our transition back to in-person instruction is progressing. As a reminder, please visit the District website to view Covid-19 FAQs and the Covid-19 Data Dashboard, both of which are updated often.

Sincerely,

Bryan Davis

Shorewood Schools Superintendent
