Most of us in the Shorewood Schools community are still trying to process the terrible events that took place yesterday at the Waukesha Holiday Parade. We know that students especially may be struggling to process what happened and staff will be checking in with students, making time as needed, to talk through it together. Counselors are also available should students or staff need any extra support.
As details of yesterday continue to unfold, our partners at Children's Wisconsin have been working to gather tools and connections that can serve as good resources for students, families, schools and community members. Unfortunately, trauma, hurt and healing are more universal than sometimes recognized and--whether directly or indirectly affected--these resources may be helpful in response to the many events we have encountered previously, present time or down the road.
