Dear Shorewood Families,
I hope you have had a great week! As we head into the weekend, I would like to review a few important points regarding the COVID-19 protocol adjustments that will begin on Monday, March 7.

First, if you have not already done so, I ask that you please take time to thoroughly review the COVID-19 protocol adjustments together with your student(s) prior to the start of the school day on Monday. It is important that you and your students understand the changes that will be in effect moving forward, and the mitigation measures that will continue.

The mask recommended, but optional, guideline takes effect on Monday, March 7. This is a personal choice for students, families and staff members, and we will honor and respect each individual's decision. Please discuss your personal expectations for masking with your student(s). Also reinforce the need to support and respect the choices others may make. Bullying or harassment regarding mask-wearing will not be tolerated and will be addressed through the Student Code of Conduct.

Staff members will be making personal masking choices as well, and I ask that you not contact them, or your school principal, inquiring about their masking decisions. Please also be reminded that we are not asking staff to enforce masking compliance under the mask recommended, but optional, guideline. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
We understand that adjustments to protocols will raise additional questions and concerns. Please submit your questions through our District website portal here. We encourage families with health-related concerns to consult their health care providers directly about masking and additional precautions that address specific family needs and concerns.
We will monitor adjustments closely and will make you aware of any alterations to protocols or operations quickly. I am confident in our ability to move forward together through these next phases of COVID mitigation, and I appreciate your continued support.
