It is a pleasure and privilege to announce that the District's very own Shorewood Intermediate School World Geography teacher Sarah Kopplin has been recognized as one of five recipients of a 2023 Wisconsin Teacher of the Year award. State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly, along with students, school and District staff, presented Mrs. Kopplin with this tremendous honor at a surprise ceremony on Thursday, May 5, in her classroom. View photos from the ceremony here.
Mrs. Kopplin received this award because of her passion for social studies education and the innovative, resourceful ways she provides opportunities for all students. In addition to serving on the school’s instructional leadership team, Kopplin is a member of district-level planning workgroups focused on improving outcomes for all of our students. Through her commitment to providing authentic learning opportunities, students in her class leverage their leadership, voice, and choice to guide their individual learning experiences.
As one of the five Wisconsin teachers who have received this honor, Mrs. Kopplin will be recognized at several upcoming ceremonies including the annual State of Education Address at the State Capitol rotunda by State Superintendent Underly.
