Dear Shorewood Families & Staff,
I hope you have had a great start to the school year.
I would like to start by thanking our three candidates - Andrew Frey, Abigail Fowler and Nathan Hammons - who applied for the vacant Board seat left by Pablo Muirhead’s resignation. The board met twice this week, conducting interviews and carefully reviewing each candidate's materials. The Board was very impressed with all candidates, and we are grateful to them for their interest in serving our district and their passion for our students’ education.
After hours of thoughtful discussions about the strengths and skill sets that each of the candidates offers, the Board has selected Abigail Fowler.
Abigail is an alumna of the District, a parent of two students currently attending Shorewood High School, and a strong advocate for Shorewood. We are confident her skills, experiences and values will contribute positively to the important work of the Board for the next eight months.
The Board is scheduled to vote on her appointment at the September 13th regular Board meeting, and plan for Abigail to begin her service that evening.
This appointment fills the remainder of Dr. Muirhead’s term, which ends in April 2023. Two seats will be up for election in April, including this one.
