Celebrations

Shorewood Intermediate School scored higher than the State averages in the areas of “Student Achievement,” “Closing Gaps,” and “On-Track and Postsecondary Readiness.” SIS’s state report card score grew 4.2 points from last year. The most significant area of growth was in the area of “Closing Gaps,” which is a measurement of how much a school is closing academic achievement gaps within student subgroups.

Growth Opportunities

In looking at the school report card, SIS will focus efforts on “School Growth.” This is an area that measures how rapidly students are gaining knowledge and skills from year to year. While students made expected progress in the area of Mathematics, subgroups did not make expected progress in the area of English Language Arts. Shorewood Intermediate School teachers recently completed a curriculum mapping exercise in 7-12 English Language Arts courses utilizing Wisconsin Standards and Social Justice Standards to increase skill alignment. This updated curriculum will be implemented during the 2018-19 school year.
