Students in 1st through 3rd grade classrooms are supported within their math classrooms by Advanced Learning Department staff on a regular basis. This support is on-grade-level and aligned with the classroom instruction and CCSS standards. Students are identified for this universal support either through test scores (MAP), pre-testing, or teacher observations/recommendations.
In some instances, a selected intervention will take place when students are served during their Response to Intervention (RtI) or guided study time. This selected intervention features a mix of on-grade and above-grade-level content that is generally not aligned to classroom instruction.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade students who are reading significantly above grade level may receive ongoing support by an Advanced Learning Department staff member. This support may take place during the class' reading instruction time or during the RtI/guided-study time.
