Health and Medical Considerations

Medical, dental and vision exams are not required for entrance into Wisconsin Public Schools, however they are highly recommended. We suggest the following to prepare your student for a happy and healthy start to their school year:

• A wellness check and review of immunizations with your child's primary care provider;
• A dental check up; and

• A vision check, if not provided during a wellness visit.

Please discuss any medical conditions that will need support during school hours with your child's primary care provider. These include severe allergies, asthma, seizures, diabetes and medication needs. Please contact the health team. If your child does not see a medical provider regularly for well-child check ups, you should make an appointment as soon as possible to ensure your child's vaccination requirements are met and to ensure that all medical concerns are addressed. Some medical conditions that may need additional support at school:

• Child wears glasses or hearing aides
• Has a life-threatening allergy that they need Epinephrine for
• Asthma 
• Requires medication during school hours
• Specialized feedings/monitoring at school
• Seizure disorder
• Diabetes
• Any other medical conditions they have been diagnosed that may require support and care at school.
