Health and Medical Considerations

WHEN ENROLLING IN SCHOOL

We are happy to have you and your child join our school community!  There are a couple of health and wellness considerations to think about before the first day of school. We want to ensure that your child starts off their school experience at their best!

Some of the things we highly recommend are:

  • Wellness check with your child's primary care provider
  • Vision check: (vision and hearing are often checked during a wellness visit with your child's primary care provider.)
  • Dental check
  • Immunizations are up to date
  • Sharing medical conditions that may need support during school hours. These can include but are not limited to, severe allergies, asthma, seizures, diabetes and medication needs. Please contact the health team. 


If your child does not see a medical provider regularly for well-child check ups, you should make an appointment as soon as possible to ensure your child's vaccination requirements are met and to ensure that all medical concerns are addressed.

Eye/Dental/Physical exams are not required for entrance into Wisconsin Public Schools, however they are highly recommended. If you child sees their physician regularly for well-child check ups, your child's health needs should be met.

STUDENTS WITH MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Some medical conditions that may need additional support at school:

  • Child wears glasses or hearing aides
  • Has a life-threatening allergy that they need Epinephrine for
  • Asthma 
  • Requires medication during school hours
  • Specialized feedings/monitoring at school
  • Seizure disorder
  • Diabetes
  • Any other medical conditions they have been diagnosed that may require support and care at school.
