We are proud to announce that Regina Schindel, one of our dedicated SHS staff members, has been honored as a 2024 Local PhysTEC Teacher of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes Ms. Schindel as an exemplary educator whose outstanding contributions to physics education are both meaningful and far-reaching.
Ms. Schindel's impact extends beyond the classroom-positively influencing students, colleagues, our school district, and the broader educational community across the state. Her recognition comes at a critical time, as the nation continues to face a shortage of qualified physics teachers. According to the American Association for Employment in Education, high school physics teachers have been in "considerable shortage" since 2018.
In addition to her recent award, Ms. Schindel achieved another significant milestone this past summer, being promoted to Exam Leader on the AP Physics Reading and Test Development Committee. This role places her at the forefront of shaping national AP Physics assessments and further highlights her leadership in the field.
Please join us in congratulating Ms. Schindel on these remarkable achievements. We are honored to have such a dedicated and inspiring educator on our faculty and look forward to her continued success.
