New Football Coach for Tri-Op Team

The Shorewood-Messmer-Dominican High School football program announced the addition of Coach Michael Brown-Johnson as its new head coach.

Coach Brown-Johnson began high school football immediately upon graduating from Rufus King in 2012. After injuries ended his senior year season, he decided that coaching was the best path to continue his passion for and love of the game. Having been a multi-sport athlete, football always had his heart.

After taking a few years off to attend school at Iowa Western Community College as an Athletic Trainer, Coach BJ moved back home, got married, and started a family. Coach BJ and his wife then co-founded PVE Sports Corp, a youth sports organization, with the goal of providing student-athletes with the coaching and insight he wishes he would have had growing up as a young student-athlete. With an extensive Offensive mind, Coach BJ has coach at Rufus King HS, Marquette University HS, Whitnall HS, East Troy HS, Cudahy HS, and Sussex Hamilton HS.

“I live football, and I always knew I would be around it whether that be playing in the NFL or coaching at various levels,” Coach BJ said. “God designed this path for me, so when one way was shut down I followed His lead to the next. Through my personal journey, I am blessed to now serve as a mentor and help the next generation of football players become better athletes and young adults – and I can’t wait to do that while leading the Shorewood-Messmer-Dominican tri-op program!”

Taz Landry, Shorewood High School Athletic Director, expressed a similar excitement about the hiring of Coach BJ.

“Our hiring team of Athletic Directors, staff, and school parents were extremely impressed with the vision that Coach BJ shared during the interview process,” said Landry. “We are confident he is the right man at the right time to lead our tri-op football program, and ensure the success of our student-athletes, both on and off the field.”

Messmer Athletic Director, John Johnson, and Dominican Athletic Director, Tom Mlada, echoed Landry’s sentiments, emphasizing the unity and camaraderie that Coach BJ will bring to the new tri-op program. The combined team will offer student-athletes an enriched experience of school spirit, friendships, and competition that crosses school boundaries.

The newly formed Shorewood-Messmer-Dominican Football Team will compete at the Varsity Reserve level in 2025, with an intensive focus on player development and program building. The first season as a combined Varsity team will take place in Fall 2026.
