The Shorewood School District is proud to announce that Shorewood High School Associate Principal Amanda Jamerson has been selected by the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) as the 2026 Wisconsin High School Associate Principal of the Year. This statewide honor recognizes exceptional leadership that strengthens school communities, elevates student learning, and fosters safe, inclusive, and collaborative environments.

Jamerson has made a tremendous impact during her time at Shorewood High School, where she has led major schoolwide efforts to support student wellbeing, strengthen connections, and build a restorative and equitable school culture.

Her commitment to equity is central to her leadership. As the school's Building Equity Lead, Jamerson founded the Equity Leadership Team and has provided ongoing professional learning and coaching that has helped integrate culturally responsive practices across classrooms. She also co-led the African American Youth Initiative, a regional program that strengthens mentorship, leadership development, and college readiness for African American students throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

"Ms. Jamerson's impact on our school has been extraordinary," said SHS Principal Tim Kenney. "Her leadership has shaped a culture where safety, belonging, and achievement go hand in hand. She has empowered both staff and students to lead with empathy and excellence. I am thrilled to see her recognized at the state level in this way."

Jamerson will be formally honored at the Wisconsin Associate Principal Convention in January and will receive $1,000 to support a project of her choice at Shorewood High School. She will also represent Wisconsin at the National Assistant Principal of the year Celebration in Washington, D.C., in spring 2026.
