Shorewood alumni Donald Baumgartner (Class of 1949), Johnathan Bernard (Class of 2000), Christopher Carson (Class of 1994), Wayne Newhauser (Class of 1982), and Joan Walsh (Class of 1976) will be recognized during a special day-long event at Shorewood High School on April 13, which will include an awards ceremony at an assembly for all students, a luncheon, a tour of campus, and a reception sponsored by the Shorewood High School Alumni Association.
On February 13th, the Shorewood Recreation Department's Gravity Cruisers course culminated in an open house. Students were able to show off their designs, answer questions about the building process and--to everyone's enjoyment--race their vehicles.
At the start of every school year, staff engage in discussions about safety procedures and plans. In October, Atwater, Lake Bluff, Shorewood Intermediate School, and Shorewood High School participated in a School Safety Week. On Thursday, February 1, from 7-8 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium, the Shorewood School District and the Shorewood Orchestra Boosters will host the 12th Annual Shorewood High School Orchestra Benefit Concert.
The District is co-sponsoring Shorewood Reads 2018, a community read featuring the award-winning novel Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, which will kick off on Wednesday, January 24, with a Story Slam. All events related to Shorewood Reads are free and open to the public.
The District, in partnership with the Shorewood SEED Foundation & REDgen, invites parents and students ages 12+, to attend the upcoming "Stairway to Heroin" event on Tuesday, January 30th, 6:30pm in the SHS Auditorium with the Resource Fair beginning at 5:30pm.
