Registration for Jr. Kindergarten (K4) and new Sr. Kindergarten (K5) will start on January 31, from 5-7 p.m. during the K4 Round Up event. At this open house-style event, students and parents will be able to meet the K4 teachers, explore the classrooms, and enroll for the program if they wish.
Families are not required to have pre-enrollment completed by Jan. 31 but it must be completed by March 23. If you wish to enroll your child the evening of the 31st, please bring documents required below. If you cannot make this event, you can register at your chosen elementary school. Currently, for those interested in enrolling their child in an A.M. spot, you will enter a lottery and spots will be drawn the week of Spring Break. As always we try our best to accommodate all family preferences, but it is not always possible. If you have twins and would like to guarantee they have the same start time, please select the P.M. class time. Letters will be mailed home by Mid-April with your student's start time; however, you will not know classroom placement until August (teacher preferences are not considered for placement).
Documents Required for Initial Enrollment:
- Certified birth certificate, if born outside the United States, please bring a passport.
- Immunization Records (required by the start of the school year)
- Two documents for residency verification. One document must be from List A and one document must be from List B, shown below. No exceptions.
Once your application is processed you will receive an email from Infinite Campus with your Portal Activation Key, each parent should use that to set up their Parent Portal.
The next step in the enrollment process will happen later in the summer. You will receive an email through Infinite Campus, telling you it is time to log in to your Parent Portal and complete the online registration process.
Lastly, during the District's Forms and Fees Days (Aug. 9 & 10), you will be required to again verify residency.* At this time, you will also receive your teacher assignment and a school calendar.
*Below are acceptable documents for verifying residency.
1. Current property tax statement

New to Shorewood?
If you have a student currently enrolled in a Shorewood school, please use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal for online registration.
Below you will find answers to a few questions that pertain to enrollment. First off, if you live in Shorewood your child is guaranteed a spot in Junior Kindergarten.
1. What are the AM and PM times for Junior Kindergarten?
The AM session goes from 8:15-11:05 Monday-Friday and the PM session goes from 12:30-3:25 Monday-Friday. Please note that on Wednesday's we have early release so the students are done with their day at 10:30 and 2:15
2. How are AM and PM spots assigned?
Junior Kindergarten spots are assigned through a complete lottery system. The demand for AM spots is much greater so to be fair we will be assigning spots blindly. If you do in fact prefer a PM spot, we will certainly accommodate that and ensure that your child is assigned to the PM. When the AM spots fill up, we do start a wait list and will assign children to the AM according to the wait list. We do not take into consideration if you currently have a student at Atwater. Everyone is assigned based on a lottery system. Also, if you are a parent of twins and you would like them to be in the same class then you must select PM.
3. When will I find out which session my child got into?
Letters will be mailed home in the middle of April. If you are unhappy with the session you were given, a simple phone call to our office can be made and we can put you on our wait list. Many spots did in fact open up late into the summer so please communicate with us if you decide you would like your name taken off of the wait list. Please note that our school office will be closed for the month of July. Again, no guarantees will be made.
4. What sort of childcare options are available if I need additional care during the day?
Milestones Programs for Children is an option that many families utilize if they need additional care during the school day. Milestones main office is at St. Robert's school, which is just to the east of us. They do have a class room at Atwater. Financial assistance is available for Milestones. Their website is milestonesprograms.org or they can be reached at 414-964-5545 for more information.
5. Now that I have my acceptance and session letter, what's next?
Forms and Fees Day will be held on August 9th and 10th at the High School (times to be determined). During this time you will prove your Shorewood residency again and pay school fees. To prove residency we will need to see two documents. A list of all acceptable documents is available online at shorewoodschools.org. Please note that a driver's license is NOT an acceptable form of residency. We absolutely need two pieces. If both of these items are not brought in you will have to come back. If you are paperless you can print out your utility bill through we-energies.com. We will not accept seeing the information on your phone or tablet. We absolutely need the paper copy. Computers and printers will be available if needed on these two days.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to call our office at 414-963-6962 x7972 or email us! We are in the office Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
