Enrolling Your Child

Welcome to the School District of Shorewood! If you are new to our District, we encourage you to register your student as soon as possible to help us balance class sizes and provide appropriate staffing.

You are welcome to visit our schools during school hours. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment at the appropriate school to be sure someone will be available to provide a tour and answer your questions.

Please register with our Instructional/Pupil Services Office. You can reach the office at 414-963-6903. The office is located in the administration building of Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, Shorewood, WI. Although all new students must register with our Instructional Services staff, you can still contact the school for a tour. (Contact information for each school can be found below.)

Additionally, if you have an incoming 9th grade student, there will be a Freshman Orientation Night on February 5, at 6 p.m.in the SHS Auditorium, during which you can register your child.

New To the District?

Any resident that has not attended a Shorewood School District School may start the online enrollment process for the 2018-2019 school year, January 15, 2018. Please bring any required documents to the Pupil Services office, located in Shorewood High School, after February 1 any day 9am-4pm, please call for an appointment 414-963-6903. Please complete online registration before coming to Pupil Services.

Documents you need to bring with you:

  • Certified Birth Certificate, if born outside The United States please bring a passport.
  • Two documents to prove of residency one from each list below. You will not be enrolled until you prove residency. You will be required to prove residency again in August.

List A:

1. Current property tax statement
2. A closing statement for purchasing a home (less that one year old)
3. A signed current resident lease (including the landlord’s name, address, and phone number)

List B:

1. Current month’s utility bill
2. Health insurance
3. Food Share/Quest benefit
4. Medicaid/Badgercare benefit statement
5. W-2, SSI, or other country, state, or federal benefit statement

Drivers License is not a valid proof of residency.

Wisconsin's Open Enrollment application period is February 5-April 30, 2018.

Shorewood School District has zero open enrollment seats available for the 2018-19 school year.

New Resident

Welcome New Residents!

Please register as far in advance as possible at the district school office located at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive in Shorewood. It is highly recommended to contact the Pupil Services office at 414-963-6903 to make an appointment.

Prior to registering, please bring the following forms to your school's office:

  • Child's Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Record
  • Transcripts from last school attended (high school students)
  • Proof of Residency

Please click the link below to start the enrollment process for your new student. After you have completed the online registration please come to the Pupil Services office in the Administration Building at Shorewood High School, with your child's certified birth certificate, and your two forms of proof of residency.

There must be one from each list below.

"Shorewood School Board Policy 420 requires one form from each list. Your child will not be allowed to enroll until residency is verified."

List A:

  1. Current property tax statement

New Non-Resident

If your child currently does not reside in Shorewood, there are three ways your student can attend school in the district.
Become A Resident

Resident students are entitled to receive a free public education in the Shorewood School District and may register to attend at any time. Proof of residency is required at registration.

Open Enrollment

The open enrollment application period is from February 5-April 30, 2018. For more information about open enrollment, you can call the state's Open Enrollment Information Line at 888-245-2732. You can also click here for more information. You can apply for open enrollment on the Department of Public Instruction website.

OPEN ENROLLMENT SEAT PROJECTION FOR THE 2018/19 SCHOOL YEAR

In order to determine Open Enrollment seat projections for the 2018-19 school year, Shorewood analyzed its current student enrollment for each grade level and compared that against school board-approved class size guidelines. Based on these factors, there are no projected Open Enrollment seats. Please note you can still apply for Open Enrollment in the Shorewood School District; however, you will be placed on a waitlist.


Chapter 220 Program

The Shorewood School District is currently at capacity for Ch. 220 program students and is not accepting applications for the 2018-19 school year.

Returning Students

If you are a returning Shorewood student enrolling for the new school year, annual registration will become available online with more information forthcoming in August. Once the online portion of the registration process is completed, the District will hold "Forms & Fees Days" on August 9 & 10, 2018 from 12-7 p.m. and 7 a.m.-2 p.m., respectively. Proof of residency will be a requirement for all returning students.


Food Service

The School District of Shorewood, through its food service management company, Taher, offers a meal program at every school.

Meal prices, including milk and juice, are:

  • SIS/SHS Breakfast: $1.40/day (Breakfast is not served at the elementary schools.)
  • SIS/SHS Lunch: $3.00/day
  • Atwater/Lake Bluff Lunch: $2.70/day
  • Milk/Juice/Water Only: $.40/$.50/$1.00/day
