I believe we have doctor Carter on the line good evening everyone how's everyone doing terrific awesome I'm going to share my screen I just want to give a little bit of background about passages which I'm sure you all are very at the where book for those who are not I will go ahead and give an overview so during our school year are we do what are called student-led conferences which are a combination of court Leo's put together by our fantastic teachers which leads to passages when they become 6th graders at our school so of course this attaches itself or lends itself beautifully to our vision which isn't in challenging off into work grow through student-centered experiences and honoring the voices stories and experiences of themselves and others this comes from the three dimensions of student achievement which it can all be progress my character Mastery of skills and knowledge in high-quality work I'm going a little bit too fast and it's also aligns itself nicely to our growth plan which also measures academic growth character and citizenship as well as Wellness so the benefits of portfolios and passages why do we do this to document progress have Scholars practice reviewing and assessing their own work showcasing best work and this would be from when they started school up into 6th grade demonstrate that they are meeting the learning Targets in school standards reflecting on growth and learning sharing their work with a community we have some very nice guest in our build helping us with passages practicing presentation skills and demonstrating that they are ready to move on now we had a guest from The non-profit world we had the executive director a doctor make with us from I'm sitting here we had some wonderful guests from BMO I'm we also had an entrepreneur I'm going to mess up his last name but he always introduces himself as Omar he was phenomenal and we had a couple of college one writes for the paper in Madison she is a graduate of Ronald Reagan but she wanted to come and get feedback we had a former administrators ebony joined us she was able to come and we also had someone else from DPI he's the director diversity so he was there Dimitri Beekman and some former teachers I'm for their passage from them well for their passage portfolio they connected their work it's like it on character growth thinking about the code of conduct or code of character and the person design principles and they said they were ready they're about to take the Step Up AB moving on to middle school so they wanted to show us that they were ready and they wanted to share their gross now I'm going to share a little bit of a passage from last year it was done virtually and I thought it would lend itself to tonight's sentation Janice marschke not only is she phenomenal but we have the same first names of course she is but she's doing but she did a great job with her passage and I did receive permission from her family but I thought she did such a nice job of lining up for slides and explaining everything so I'm just going to show a little bit of it hi my name is Janice this is my mom Melissa my dad Chris and my sister over here at water is only people I've ever gone to I've been here since Bright Beginnings or preschool when I was three years old so that's nine years that I've been at Outwater May 1st this is my first artifact for today is my golf course don't like houses for my false didn't like conference my goal was to work on my multiple because I've always struggled with mine so I started to do reflex which is an online thing where you can work on multiplication and division facts I started to improve on my fax and every day that I have gone tree but I will check the charts and if it dark green that meant that I had mastered it and if it was like green that meant that I still had to work on my fact I remember when I only had one light green fact left while I was still doing Reflex I have started to get higher scores on my time test I feel that I really appreciate your ministry plaques my other goal for my student like conference in the fall was on my perks which is the acronym use for character traits of a school I chose to work on Chris so I think that I really person we are to finish reflex and that I grew up in both of Michaels I also persevered and other things to even outside of school such as basketball this is the first year that I have played on a team like this and it is also first year that short had a girls basketball team the first game we played was a complete shock to me and most of the girls on my team I remember just standing there having no absolute idea what was going on we ended up losing 64 to 12 but that postseason I kept perseverance and I grew so much and learned a lot over the whole season the last game we played we won by two and overall I'm very proud of how I persevered throughout basketball season and reflux when I first started writing my argument essay which is an essay about a short story that we chose and we had to write about character traits in the short story we chose I chose 7th grade by Gary setup I really had no idea begin because I had never written an essay before but in the end I'm very proud of what I've accomplished and I had a very I had a very hard time starting evidence and quoting from the text but now if I if I look back at all the different places in my I say that I put it from the text I am proud of them and now I'm very comfortable with putting on the text I also feel that this will help me in the future because when we are riding at mrs. Marquis was really helping us along and I learned a lot about the parts of my essay and what you should write about we're so during that unit I grew so much and I feel very comfortable sitting down and writing an essay and I feel that this will really help me when I am at SAS or in the high school I'm going to stop her there turn on high pitch music and she did such a nice job I just wanted to share that again and finally many things I want to thank those are board members that could join us it was a tough time to get off work so you made time for our Scholars and thank you to those parents that supported us thank you to the Marcus for allowing me to share their great family very involved at Atwater to this day and I'll thank you to the phenomenal sixth grade team they did say such a good job preparing the scholars so this year we did not do the online aspect we did the in person and it was so wonderful just saying them talked about and reflect and I was so proud of many of the sky is that normally we're a little bit shy but they came out of that shyness to present everything that they have worked hard on so that would be passages and so our next step was to collect the portfolios from every classroom to pass on to the text classrooms do they have that material to talk about in their 6th grade year thanks thank you thank you a great idea to have the video so we don't have to interrupt anybody vacation for a board meeting so I asked them to appear and it's summer I can't believe they would want to come to Kalahari a no thank you so much it's much appreciated any questions for no problem now I don't get to go to dinner with my husband before he starts his summer work schedule so it's been my pleasure all right next up we have our first opportunity for public comments this is the first of three opportunities to turn first two books we have here with us in person if anybody would like to come up for public I think we have somebody welcome you have a seat I'm just pulling other chair upright appear but thank you and whenever you get settled if we could just state your name and address that would be great do you want another microphone so you can book you're going to get one thank you I'm one of the amount they will learn the teachers in Shorewood so I'm here to help mrs. Barbara who is going to speak in front of you he asked me to translate a message to you and I'll be happy to do that thank you for being here as Mama Ya Mama DJ Zapata. who is a 9th grader A supplier who is a senior and he knows who the second grader luggage with me out slushies yet we've been in storage for 7 years and I have a huge ask I want to ask you for something very important for me the best new English. I still don't know English. roast that you do with that other stuff even a bottle of throat and I'm really happy that I happen to start my life and the United States ashore one you might need to pick up Alia Bhatt Water School children became students of Atwater School hockey on my end so far bad weather. The families by the parents. differential Louisville loan but welcomed warmly the jungle where you going to finish Super Show on land it does seem like they had along with us necessary and this is Ryan Howard friend and that bicycle feeling at home in the school district that is if we still want the oldest Middle School they were happy they were confident in their abilities they were ready for the school but should have the huge part of them. So what is still doing them and buy the teachers and by their you know by the group peaches it's very important for them and help them to be successful in the future life I'm not just going to let that water School Shuman elementary school but my youngest one is just starting his journey there. And then he came out he was afraid unlock dying each other. He is now I am feeling much more comfortable no problem right there not able to buy a house in Charlotte because it is very expensive. And we had to go. try to apply for open enrollment seats. Unofficially Nia part of the the school district they are very thinking about it for about 2 months now my oldest one is able to finish the school cuz I'm the senior role. but you'll have to choose cuz I don't know if you mailed to have to be a part of email program and to get the support from them out. her daughter said that she doesn't that doesn't offer the opportunities that she would like to pursue a shorter one doesn't have the same I be I believe classes cookies helps kids a lot with finding colleges with helping them with like scholarships they are not able to do that because they're new to the country and I'll be able to you know that yeah they really would like so it's hard for for the kids thank you so much for listening to me I hope that you would be able to I've been going since I was in third grade and I've Loved this place ever since I've made lots of prayer here especially the ones that I still have and they have stuck with me for a very long time even if I've had my ups and downs here I remember some of those I think that the teachers in the friends I have made here at the me so much to get through everything and ever since I have found out that the Shorewood high school as a very good drama and performance arts program which I have been very interested in since I was a little it made me very excited I couldn't wait to go to my high school years and experience it so I so I would really really like to stay here since we moved and I and I had hoped that it wouldn't get in the way of me going to this school since I've heard so good things about it and that's why I'm hoping if there's any chance at all I can go to Shorewood high school and I would be genuinely thankful first thank you for being here to all three of you thank you I just want to respond briefly the the first thing to understand is the board doesn't decide the civically which students have open but tonight we will be talking about Open Enrollment in general and the number of seas the we'll talk about that with the superintendent and talk about the process we use but none of us know specifics about you-know-who which which students are chosen so I also want to say how happy but not sad highest I am that the students had such a good experience here and I really appreciate you sharing that tonight and in hearing from your student about the great experience a pad heater and I trust that jackass turkey or when somebody with the school district will Circle back with you to talk more about the family situation whatever it is so thank you so much for being here really appreciate the kind words for the teachers and thank you so much for being here tonight open up to anybody else who wants to make a public comment what have you hi I'm Janet reinhofer she need my address is 4432 North Wildwood Avenue in Shorewood and I'm here just in support of their family I was to Kimo's first teacher here when they came and their son's their little boy is coming hopefully to me in the fall so I just wanted to say what a lovely family they are and smart lovely children and also and we have a hug every morning that we can and that's just I just wanted to be here to support any other public all right if you could just eat your name and your address Matthew petering I just moved into Shorewood I live at 4457 North Sheffield Avenue thank you very much and ability to be here then just want to thank all the board members and you know the teachers and everyone in Shorewood I know it's a outstanding school district and I've game typically ranks I guess in the top five in the Republic School District so this is fantastic I might have a little two year old daughter and just starting to think about her future and there are several things that are concerning me about you know what she may be facing in the in the future and how she can still learn in this increasingly challenging world I just a brief background about myself I do teach engineering and a tenured professor of industrial and Manufacturing engineering at UWM and I do a lot of algorithm work I B algorithms that do scheduling my most recent project is I have a I have an algorithm where I can basically like a button and within 1 hour and entire course are you going to um for an entire semester for all the course sections 2000 score sections can be scheduled in about 170 rooms at UWM you know what that very efficiently and and all the stop so I do a lot of Gallagher in the morgue and you no lie I do with a lot of work in the digital realm but I am deeply concerned about significant negative impacts that over digital over digitalization can have on the learning of young people and I guess I was particularly I mean there's a lot of things happening these past few months that there's chat g p t I am deeply concerned and I hope the board is very deeply concerned about this as well as potential to interfere with children's learning how to do your learning the English language how to read and write put sentences together put ideas together into a longer document that has no introduction supporting paragraphs and conclusion and end all of this and and the potential of this technology to be used to basic replace human thinking where your children will be wanting to ask the computer to do the thinking for them and you know I I I hope the board really asking that maybe it's a deep looking at what can be done here I'm also concerned in awhile I believe smartphones you know I don't exactly know to be honest What policies there currently are in the district related to no using cell phone their smartphones you know by students faculty or staff you know in the building during regular school hours but I am concerned also about the potential negative impacts of you no using no kids who are in Middle School like looking phones in all the time during recess or whatever it middle school high school elementary school you know just too much screen time I feel is also something that could be potentially detrimental to you learn I'm and so although I do a lot of work in the digital realm I am I am I know the analog rules over the digital will always rule over the digital the sun is analog I don't care how intelligent robot is if it gets in the gravitational field of this time it's going to be destroyed if the sun no longer shines life on Earth you know as well as the core of the earth may have lost its feet or whatever life on Earth can't exist and anything that's digital will go down with all the analog stuff in the living things our world is analog it will always be analog in my opinion the digital is only there as a slave to help human beings and the analog world achieve its purposes and to the extent that helps us I think it can be embraced but to the extent that to which it is hurting us I really hoped that the district can push back against over digitalization embrace I just really am really worried about Chad gbt in the humanities and social sciences in particular to undermine your children's learning of the English language and then other languages so I really hope that the board can really try to seriously tackle this issue and I certainly I'd be at up service to talk more about issues related to AI the board on my some people claim that what I do is a i I don't believe a I exist artificial intelligence I don't believe that exists I believe intelligence is only within living thing AI is really just automation it just following instructions over and over again with a computer code that a human has written and that's what is self-driving cars natural language AI or even the algorithms that I right which are more kind of computational to make schedules and stuff I just I don't even believe the word AI should be used I just think it's another form of automation repetition of tasks that is a Mindless repetition that is prescribed by a human who wrote that code for the robot or the machine to follow so anyway I don't want to take up too much I'm your I just wanted mention to you was my final summary about what I hope could the district could be like in a few years when my little daughter is going to be starting KFOR I think for the sake of our children's intellectual social and emotional development I hope we can make all Shorewood Schools smartphone free zones I've never bought a smartphone myself I do he's mine now I have a 4G phone works great. Let's focus on Smart children not smartphones I think there's a trade-off there the smarter the phone gets the more you may rely on it and that might actually undermine our own internal intelligence as human beings fill its focus on Smart children not smart phones and to avoid chat GPT brain damage at the middle and high school unfortunately it looks like we may need to replace typed reports with handwritten essay exam thank you very much for listening thanks so much with a two-year-old so that's it that's great to hear thank you so much I'll try and follow up with you. oceans that just about current policies thanks so much anybody else make a public comment please answer your name and address and or you can use your raise hand function any public comments from Zoom pretty Spence thank you we're seeing right on time so next up we are trying to board business and we're going to talk about our long-term capital Improvement plan let me know there's going to come up with another comes up she has the next three items on the agenda the long-term capital Improvement plan the resolution to authorize long-term capital Improvement rest on and the approval of the 2324 preliminary budget I just want to make a few comments as we begin I think first and foremost I want to just let our people know that this has been a really transparent process when I look at the memo which state is how many meetings we've been at presenting first Purge since last year and then where we're going in terms of assumptions and then what the initial budget is and how else are informed it and then what are budget-balancing strategies were which were tough this year and then all of the community conversation since that took place regarding the referenda as well and then the capital maintenance strategy I think we had no less than seven or eight meetings where the budget has come before the board and then in turn as those reports have gone on the district website on the financial page so that we can heighten the transparency regarding that I guess the piece that I really want to say is that I don't think what you've seen tonight is a diversion from where we said we would be we're following through with what the things that we brought to the board for the upcoming months as well as what we've said to our citizens that we would be to working hard to reduce the budget and really work to not only maintain our people and our program but also to look at our fiscal stewardship and our physical sustainability as well and that's a tough Balancing Act and I just want to say thanks Heather to you and your team and our principles and leaders for all the hours of conversation and decision-making that have got us to where we are here with these three pieces of business which are all a part of that comprehensive preliminary budget and I know Heather may say but the next step will be the annual meeting in August and then the final adoption most likely in early October I know Heather is also going to talk about the state budget but we'll wait for that third piece on that so Heather before we dive in the plant cell motion to approve short School District long-term capital maintenance plan as included in our gal and a second can I just have a question about what it what it means like what we're actually approving Capital maintenance man outside I understand lately I see it's like you know this will your 31.6 million on that lettuce fields are we are proving that now or is it just more we're proving the idea at the concept of a long-term plan is that makes it so you're not approving a budget the Alex I think what you're asking is are you approving for us to spend that dollar amount in at 5:31 and he has there is no we still have to approve a budget on an annual basis this is this is approved a plan for the future like set of priorities in a set of potential but you would still have to approve the annual budget okay yeah so this is this is a required Conant of opening the fun 46 is that we have an approved Capital maintenance plan so that you know this is kind of us confirming that we have a conversation about like why do we need to allocate funds for Capital maintenance what are some of the things that are coming on board how do we anticipate how do we anticipate expending resources towards Capital the future you know what are we thinking about what are we planning for okay just wondering what are we actually now document but I'm wondering what are we voting on here okay so for these three items I'm I'm I have some comments as Doctor Strange he said about the state budget which I'll address when we get to the third item on the other items I just make a couple brief comments about each and then really confuse our continuation to previous conversations in this kind of our final stop I will focus my comments around where you have questions so the first item is the long-term capital capital maintenance plan as we just talked about this is kind of where we see things over the next when your 10 years is a long time you know of course things can shift and change what we tried to do is be General enough in order to catch what we think might be the big buckets of items over the next ten years and again as I said earlier maybe the actual budget and expenditure if we're going to spend a lot of money would be still at need to be approved. Any questions it's hard with this isn't it referring to the fun is it this is Jamie this is what word we might need something might happen then he may have to move it around but that and understanding the capital maintenance items that we're not just beginning about them were thoughtfully finding out when we would come to them when we expect our intent is to put money aside for that so we're ready for it correct and I will stay with the fund so the fund that were looking at on the next in agenda items fun 46 we would need to when we expend funds out of that in the future which would be several years down the it would need to be part of our Capital maintenance plan and again we'll get annually proposals updates absolutely I know we talked about it quite a few of these things early may they look like similar items but just slightly differently compared to earlier yeah their differences why were why we were record different layer just seriously so only because so we were more specific and the other one in it may be like if we spent a little bit more on one thing or another thing I don't want us to have a problem with a fun 46 requirement so generally want to be a little bit more General than we were in the May 9th plan so that that just gives us because again we're looking ten years down the road so that's it still it's actually in the dollar amounts match the May 9th plan I said that put question the first all say I strongly support the idea of a general maintenance plan I'll definitely be voting yes for this I noticed in one it's called the capital Improvement plan and in other parts is called the capital maintenance plan I know it's kind of both the resolution is for Capital Improvement and I see this is our Capital maintenance plan I don't know this word consistency I know they are kind of part and parcel but there are little differences between maintenance and Improvement I have to look back at that like the language they gave to us what we need to do specifically specifically it looks like we're more often is a maintenance plan but I think the difference is that goes into the improved so what we are going to be and yes this is the long-term Capital Improvements okay that is that makes sense that or is that is that what they make he asking for the difference I'm just speculating yeah so that it is a long-term capital Improvement trust fund is the specific legislation so it's a lot it's Improvement is probably the correct term I don't think that will get into I don't think they thought it her so I think you know what I think you're right your improvement needs for that fun we could have used it for maintenance for improvement Etc and this is just a long-term maintenance plan although it does include improvements now I see what you're saying it's a really good question in terms of the new 17 I know the fund needs to be called an improvement fund but I think for clarity for our citizens I think the idea of having a maintenance plan to me communicates that we are maintaining the building envelope that we are really preserving our assets and making sure that we're being diligent and planning for it so we could use I would think they do a long-term capital Improvement plan I think it has a different Nuance that we would be using it for new things or other things when I think the whole idea is about I'm going to use the word preservation and maintenance and I think that even though it's part of what this we have to call in an improvement fun personally I like the idea of Maintenance because I think it's about just that maintaining and preserve and communicates the right message it seems like is there a maintenance plan and Improvement fund funded by any question about Roofing just the building envelope line item seems low and I'm just wanted my guess was that that is not at all we're spending on Roofing and masonry and windows but I just want to confirm that overtime yeah almost so we have a consultant to did a kind of a roofing plan for us so that reflects their prey acted out expenses for roof replacement Fades over time as well as the windows it's really not a Windows replacement number in that that's a Windows maintenance like particular Arts and Science to feel like you're always switching to Windows over there is really here's and then masonry is tuckpointing and we really did a lot of talking point in the last 2 years so we'll just be doing a portion of it every building each year so the portion of certain buildings maybe I just need to adjust my meds figure of the cost cuz I'm thinking about it from what we've been in the referendum and like that was more than one bite so that make sense 1 questions then we have a motion as all in favor of approving the long-term maintenance plan I'm doing me to read this emotion albine all right I'm going to ask for a motion to adopt a resolution to authorize long long-term capital Improvement trust fund and I had to read all these whereas has no excellent okay do I have emotions I moved authorize a long-term Capital Improvements on 2nd and discussion we talked a little bit about this one once maybe twice already do you want a quick I'll area okay fun2fun 41 which is our existing Capital fund allows us to put money in at the end of the year where is currently the fun 41 we have to designate those funds at the beginning of the year so it's just a different way to say fun and we enter pay over time though so we can't use these funds for at least five years but in the future we anticipate this being more of our flexbond where were doing things that are highly desirable but somewhat more elective you know if you think of like replacing carpeting versus replace boiler so the general strategy is that we continue the fun 41 the funds we designate the beginning of the year that we have no choice items the fun 46 is hopefully we do those cuz we don't want to cumulate a lot of I just don't need that I don't want to give the impression that they're not important cuz they are and technology and things like that are part of that too but just a little bit different approach and it has it just gives us an extra tool to be able to manage how we put funds in and then impact Fresh Air cost questions about like a strategy hair so I wanted to make sure that I'm thinking about this the right way I'm thinking of this as a well so that the 10-year plan obviously you know that being proactive rather than reactive but then in terms of purely like the budget it feels like this is a way to make sure that general fund expenditures are maybe you know more and more that is fun on instruction teaching and learning then maybe you know reacting to an urgent need for a roof repair because we didn't maintain that every time I got my thinking about that the right way does it that a fact or not or are there other roles were trying to achieve with us I mean is that it doesn't change your total cost right so you're still like you're kind of balance of what you're spending where isn't necessarily changing it's more a different way to save if that makes sense if you have a year where you know something happened while you were significantly under expenses you already anticipated spending that amount your shared Kosarin already anticipating that then you use that opportunity to put money in fun 46 with 141 since you're allocated the beginning of the year either way you had something come up in the middle of the year that significant expense it was unanticipated covid happens again like that then you don't have that you can't change Corso do you like is there a household parallel like is is like a CD versus a savings account yeah something like that you can't touch for awhile yeah I like that kind of like put it down and when you pull it out right so it's different formats of financing in terms of saving the savings account for when you need to put a new roof on your house little savings account wants to go as a way for us to think about long-term maintenance in light of the referendum the capital referendum as well as how we think strategically about the current referendum on knowing that we can't use any of the funds 5 years I think I think of anything that shows good fiscal stewardship hopefully prevent us from having to come back for Capital referendum in the short-term future so thanks go back to the maintenance versus Improvement if you look at Section 1 says that the board may make expenditure is from the trust fund solely for the purpose as described in the approved long-term capital Improvement plan we just approved and maintenance plan so I don't know what do we need to change that or how do we how do we address that have to come back and make me feel let me come back and do some checking with legal counsel on it I think we're okay but let me do a check on it I think we can take action tonight and if we have to take different could be a terrorist simple and something else the resolution that I feel like proving the plan is probably like we can have a concern you ready all in paper there's an accident 50 thank you all right third item for me tonight is the fy20 for preliminary budget so we review this really several times is Doctor Strange he said this is the culmination of work that we've done over the course of the last you're up and really had a lot of opportunities to talk about the Assumption in here so I have not changed anything from what we reviewed last time so I didn't prepare slides specific to that obviously you know you've had more time to I'm happy to answer any questions I did think what I would talk about is the state budget or the pencil say fudge it I should say impact yes thank you. the doctor preliminary 2023 2024 budget thanks to adopt the preliminary 20 23 2024 budget also I can thank you. restarting a stupid so you're going to talk about the state budget in packs while you're provided for us that we're voting on or we going to are they still out there yeah so the state but so what you're voting on tonight is it going to change regardless of what if we made adjustments that would happen in the fall in the original budget so what you're going on tonight is the budget that is outlined in the narrative that career and which assumes be assumed the current state budget for all intents and purposes without any additional revenue and this is what you take to file the notice that cracked and so then that's so we need to ask the community to pass the tax levy and then in fall again will have with the original by which is a weird term because we've already looked at a bunch of times but yeah so maybe before if you do mine before we talk about the state budget impact we talk see if we have any questions you are right right in fact it may do the reverse but I don't want to go that way it will answer questions on the talk about it I had written to you that question I think it was actually an autocorrect and what I was asking if it was a sort of a will and it should will we need that way I think you were asking about I think the question was about after funds how that impacts in the future and so last year is the last year in which we have our budget is supported by Foster Farms beginning in 2425 will have to find other ways to absorb the cost for many of those things which are things that we would most likely want to continue offering all right does like this missing word like the last of us our grants will create a need to replace several budget items for some Locks Oregon and again you're not again but just to clarify so you're limited budget calls for a wage increase of 3% inclusive to all changes it's just our schedules that hasn't been negotiated and finalized yet so wasn't what you proven the budget is what you approve in the budget but what what part of that applies to the Jets and Lions versus increase that's what you negotiate is that correct I think we should reflect back on the this is very clear we just were the bridges Bay Saint Regis being increased 3.0% and fruits of all changes to salary schedules so that's done they haven't negotiated so any other questions just say I feel like we've been through this several times I appreciate it and I think you've been very forthcoming and sharing a lot of information to support the budget so thanks I did have one more question and it was about the property tax increase did you get the one point talked about the fact that at the first year 13.4% of a turtle, it might be a different number. the next year's so you're going to see I mean presumably you're going to see the most dramatic increase next year cuz next year's the biggest change but that is it. It's not additive right right you should see more of a level off after that okay I remember you discussing that with her to be more similar to past there some kind of booths or whatever at because we are trying to grow our fund balance with the referendum funding largely to be pretty good stewards because we are expecting so we'll have it wired in the first you're so it will degrees be significantly and so though we didn't pass the referendum we still do have to embed cuts into the budget for that look at the end of this we're in a good physical position in this largely aligns with what we talked about in November on Pollard through the entire referendum process in the community so and just really recapping that for the record I remembered one thing I think maybe last time I checked you were going to you or you were trying to remember what our Target Fund balance is to be able to self bandar or Health Plan did you ever find that out we working on that but wait a little bit me a little bit about about persimmon this is up to you let's hope so information it's really disappointing yeah unbelievable but I think you pointed out the final state budget so this is preliminary I think that there was the feeling that we were very close to her that you know too but I think they're actually working at it perhaps even as we speak and mercado for features I said that I wanted to highlight so one is the per-pupil increase of $325 a year over two years the second is the special education reimbursement rate to increase it 33.3% which is right around 3% more than what we got this year 3% sure everybody here is that it's only the last year we were at like 31% Quest by all the school districts in the state to 77 to where we were a number of years ago. That's a big cost to all the school districts all over the state I just had to say that the third feature is the low Revenue ceiling increased from 10000 to 11000 and then there were two new grants for mental health in literacy initiative okay okay so increase so wasn't 43 going into next year we talked about this so I know it's not new but just by way of just here for the benefit of everyone might be new to this conversation we have a president provision in the budget that we our budget can only go down by a certain amount and then there is a hold harmless visit provision that kicks in if the per-pupil amount is increased than our budget isn't going down as much and so then it kicks in the it reduces the hold harmless amount so that what impact for us in particular next year is very small about $150,000 based on total based on my past marriage. A 1% increase in so. not a huge amount and then as we look at you and I look at this I'd like to think in terms of you know these are you know I like to think in terms of five your Trunks and what were you seeing historically is we don't Virginia to get increases every year we get an increase for two years and then we get nothing in the next budget cycle so I think of it as like that increase has to last and so if you stretch that out so we've been at the last increases had to last for 5 years we do the same thing but that's where it's about a 1% average increase in that's pretty consistent with history so when we look at the way expenses are increasing this is weird continue until when we looked at all those graphs and charts during the operating referendum conversations we looked at how are falling further and further behind that continues to happen in this budget unfortunately special education Revenue that for us the 3% amounts to somewhere around $30,000 and that's not even half of the projected salary increases just for special education staff the low Revenue ceiling so thanks for this doesn't apply to us because our people about is already over $12,000 so you know I think it's great that we're getting more Equity into the system right I don't think anyone hopefully is arguing against at so districts that are I don't know how they're surviving that $10,000 and eleven but it's just kind of closing the gap between the lowest 12 schools in the highest funded schools so great in terms of rising tide raises All Ships so I didn't talk about I did have a slight specific to the mental health in the literacy grants are so kind of unpacking you know the mental help them out with things me pretty small and from what we know about the mental health red sauce and it's the same with the literacy Grant I know there's a lot of concerns about specifically what those Grant can be used for and whether or not that's beneficial so not making any assumptions around how that may or may not be beneficial to the district and Kelly. unpack and seeing what we all do before interview about a fund and is it something that's going to further our priority and just to add Community understanding there was some very interesting provisions of vegetable biryani school districts to retain students third grade that's an incredible yes policy statement that the state legislature would be imposing. and third graders so that's why we're not planning on those phones are celebrating okay so I mean at the end of the day like I said earlier it's the state budget of course we want to see additional funds and we're not going to turn any down any for pupil increases and you know anything help to a certain extent but it's not changing Financial picture it's continuing to put us in a situation where expenses are rising faster than revenues so you know my feeling is we need to be really careful and thinking about these funds in terms of are they at your funds than I friends I think of that really more is just for trying to chip away at that deficit between Rising expenses and our revenue and trying to close that Gap purses okay we have $150,000 more for next year how do we spend that think that's been one of our challenges. that's been a little bit tempting and then that's gotten into that hundred fifty turns into a hundred 75 and expenses the next year and we don't have an increase in the situation we're trying to avoid particularly with this small of increases from the state so that's just a short time flies as any other questions on that I can I'm not an expert on state budget but that's the what I do know how does this change your projections from before before you know looking five years out you know how do we have to adjust I at this point it's at this point is we're still pretty similar to where we were projected to be the mouse are pretty small I think we were hoping for more money for special education so you know I don't know if that comes in this at this point it's not fundamentally changing anything for us I'll rerun five-year projections again next year when we have more at so that love this actual than our other actual in terms of state aid and things like that and look at kind of where we're at. But at this point I don't see a major I think for you as board members what I just want to say is during the referendum we heard a lot of Citizen come in and they were very good questions on will we need this money if the state budget comes through as Xyz and I just think we always said that we can't plan on that and I think this is just evidence that we can't plan on that windfall and is Heather said even worse I think when we look at the last two years of a 0 per pupil II worried what that will look in three years since we've had 325 so I just think that there's good messaging around two things one we needed the referendum the state budget wasn't going to save our physical picture and then secondly we really need to find a way around legislative advocacy you because this is to me a very sad commentary on the funding of public schools when you look at where other resources are going it's just very very obvious or deflating in many ways as I look at what the priorities are and they seven billion dollars in Surplus and I believe this just cracked 1 billion which sounds like a lot but when you see a transfer into our budget it really doesn't give us much relief or just even don't even use the word relieved kind of your point just sustenance in terms of what we need to do so why the state is not supporting special education Public Schools did anybody I mean I haven't read anything with you where they were able to explain why they're going to give you so much and increase to voucher and private and Charter School increase per pupil what is no regulation of special education and no expectation and then the one thing that all the school districts are on the state could agree on is special education funding not heard anything or seen anything so anybody they think you just answered your own. I really appreciate that like the long-term planning that you put into this play I'd really like to see you know that they healthy fund balance I know it's kind of nerve-wracking the level it was at before and so overall I think it really positions despite all the financial headwinds and challenges I think it positions that the district Well site I really appreciate that and I'm going to vote in favor of it I know it's on everybody's mind to as you know are the salary increases enough and it's tough I think we all hope that until ocean is it looks to be slowing down a little bit but it still substantial and I don't know for this one in Four Non teaching staff visited equate to a 3% raise or does it depend on that person so that's two questions I think it's a little complicated so for every employee groom we applied 3% to their salary schedule so where it works out a little bit so that that's kind of how we're trying to be more Equitable and terms of because every time you leave salary schedule was different and trying to get like okay and the aggregate average for anyone in that group is going to be 3% but what happened with the wood stops with the group that has steps schedule if you're going out to stop you might be going up more if you're not going up stuff you might be going up last because every cent reschedule moves at different places and rates that's why I retired apply a 3% to the whole schedule so that it kind of evens out over time okay so someone who you can tell me if I'm getting too much in the weeds with someone who's cat down at their steps in Lanes what my day going to get it the individual but what might they anticipate for a raise for every employee group because they're all like and if you depend on who is in that salary schedule like how many Wingstop so the more people at the top of the larger the increased the top that doesn't have a salary schedule it just be a percent the aides and teachers I left right now did we I'm sure they are ocean pop songs by nothing felt like 3 all right and again I think we are going to need a motion for open enrollment seats I know you have them ocean here sterling sterling I can read the motion but long natural motion to declare a total of 25 additional open enrollment C do you want me to bring the grade levels grade levels for 2023 to 2024 school year. So move I'll second when you take out a that's it an incredibly complex it's a complex thing but it's a very good thing in many many ways so this specific motion talks about the ability that aboard has to open and take more an open enrollment and the specific statute reads after the date specified in statute which is June 9th that's why we're doing it at this meeting of non-resident School Board May approve applications if had in the parent notifies the non-resident school board or District that the pupil will not attend the non-resident school district and we had some of those open-enrollment students that are not coming back a parent fails to provide the notification require when we've extended a seat and someone has not taken it or the light or lastly the board determines that additional space has had become available since its determination in January we have a I would say there are two main reasons why we are opening seats and we are opening 25 of them 14 of them I just want to put in a whole different bucket 14 of those seats are for tuition waivers and in essence the easiest way to make the complex simple is there already here they've moved out and they have the ability to remain for the year so it's really it's not like we're taking more they've been in US in our in our in our situation but they moved but then after that. Of a tuition waiver they would need to reapply again and sadly I believe that is probably the situation that you were in this we also have a loss of 11 open enrollment students who are for one reason or another not coming back this year and so we have that availability of seats that way so compare and I guess another piece of that is we also have realized particularly I think it K5 we got a few more seats that we could take and so we're looking to round that out with that number 125 that we have the hard part of this is when we now extend that to people that could you know now that we have more seats again I'm just going to say 14 of them are already with tuition waivers those are extended the 11 we have to have formed a waitlist and we cannot be arbitrary and how we accept those we you know we have to take a waitlist and it's an algorithm that people were placed in and so then look at the next on the list for that grade level or the next or the next or the next and that's where we go about selecting for those seeds that are there so and in all honesty we could come back and do the again if we see that there are more but I think we're fairly we're fairly comfortable that we're trying to rest at around that 125 class size in those Early Elementary levels and we're fairly comfortable with where we're at right now we've done a good job I thought it so is again as I say we're asking you in the motion is to open 25 additional seats 14 of those are for tuition waivers and then we would have another 11 seats that we would use our waitlist provision for for that purpose I thought you know back in January that we did a motion where we already guaranteed enrollment for all students on siblings and or who moved out of the district and so that's what we're approving tonight right in essence yes and that's for a finite amount of time depending and I don't have it memorized but it's depending when you move how long you can stay it's not a perm it's not for the it's not until you're a senior it's you can round out that year or sometimes a little bit more but it's just it's determined by Statute I think what you're thinking of is the policy that we approve for how open enrollment seeds are given in January so that the current current students in Salinas current students go first so we approve a policy that we would do that and then today were approving the seats or that at all. Are leaving the district for whatever reason you in their open enrollment see if we're adding a little aren't they just basically the same total number of open enrollment seeds or is it are we only supposed to look at which ones are new leaving and we're adding 11th isn't it a wash yeah it is a additional seats and seat several students but what you're approving is the 11th more students for students that we have to improve and otherwise or if we read the sermon 125 yes so yes we can go to that we followed the same protocol as we followed in January to look at where we had the most capacity and try it again kind of round out the key heart eyes and then we just got a question about this so some of this is just me clarifying it's my understanding that we can open up open up new seat like there were it were prohibited from opening up or subtracting seats before this June 1st Friday after Monday June 8th but now that we've passed that date that's what's allowing us to prevent this and I think that just to talk about the wire that is as your numbers gets stabilized and we look into summer I know last I think my first year here we did it one of my first meetings in August we added some open enrollment seats I'm so it can be done but I'm feeling that we're pretty good where we're at right now is the 125 across kindergarten is that both schools total total what if we just graduate 175 that's when you know that's the structural deficit that we see by birth can I share a B I went down a ridiculous Rabbit Hole I love that oh by the way for that yes about birth rates and that are 2007 births are the largest class since 1990 and is a steep drop that looks like a drop baby in a weekly memo even though I'm not a lot I know all about that. My question is why aren't we opening more we have to add more stuff yeah I guess they honored it that is we're trying to use our our class size policy and and really make sure that we are maximizing that without incurring the need to hire more staff around it 380 Sumner Drive me that's like you know are we adding so many students through open enrollment that really were creating the need for more teachers and that's what we're not explicitly fill classrooms there's room but not but not create the need for addition feeling I got further than our class sizes are still well within our Harper Harris and often lower than some of our neighbors you know we look at that when we when we create our enrollment projections and we locate comprar and so we can I was starting to prepare a report on that there's good data on Niche but I don't know how Dependable it is when we start to compare what our averages versus other North Shore schools we look very favorable in that but again I think you'd want something a little more scientific around that but I think our class sizes are certainly not only within our our class size policy but I think they're comprable to what we see in our region thanks for that just turn around my head might just go to the point of clarification I think to the sports question before what were proving rephrase that like so what's our before this vote how many open enrollment seats do we have and then after the vote will it be what's 25 it would be bad + 14 for the 14 students that were resident students this year that would be women repeat what you just said they were counted in our numbers so as the third Friday AR third Friday numbers they were resident student and I'm sure they'll be in attendance open enrollment seats is quino even bid total even if it's in exact right around 225 not distributed evenly all those in favor of Marion total of 25 additional open enrollment at the grade levels described all right can I find bringing up the work plan on the big screen cuz it's hard to stay on my printed and I think on thank you the we talked a little bit our Workshop of doubt the work plan this is a bit of a living document but we do try to just periodically it's absolutely have a framework wanted to give you give us all a chance to discuss where Things Fall take a look at it and also discuss linkages and which we want to prioritize which we want to have in the fall is will need help. is his two separate things and seaboard okay oh thank you ok Google year I got that I know it's hard to see all in one gulp everybody but so and he's a little bit easier as to take it by column so you'll see events and then I believe there is a public and stakeholder engagement which is where but some linkages no sorry to hear that is not working for me okay we have building L to ship Eddie's building we have you communicators that I'm just going to go through fall because those ones we need to prioritize panicking about in scheduling and we have parents care givers at building we have high school students and then if we get into a jerky communicators again so and then you can see what is set for spring we have kind of done likes with Lucy organizes like caregivers and building leadership in the fall and then provide interest groups or something we don't have to give them structure that way so just wanted to see if there are specific ones that we should pay because we didn't get to an any other groups we run out of you in the past that we wanted to add some of not pan out we've talked about Realtors I think a few times and carry good efforts to reach out with not much success I'm going to open the table for ID in this isn't your last chance if you think of others we can discuss later but now is a good opportunity going to start with that last one that's just showing up here that's the Lord lays on yes right there boy lays on those are sort of specific groups that we meet with this is Sherwood moving forward still a presence I actually may be holding or ending their work so most of these are going to be in the form of Border ports and not like it just like I said I want to disagree that Vision if you're attending the record Weiser aboard than the people that are on that are community members and you are an effect communicating with them and and if I'm working together so it is a song it is a form of linking and a different kind of away the same with the marketing leadership Committee in the Bible Ward you know so I think these are very important roles that we play in developing connections to the screws in there direction we are on the workbench and so they are said to be no part of our work but what what I wanted to do tonight was to think about linkages perfectly his will need to start thinking about scheduling those before you know it well some of these are I mean you we already have the sexiest SWA so when they need we know when seed Mead we know when you see some need some of them so that people will understand board members how many things we can go to a brewery going to some other things would you mind filling up a little bit too all right so any this also has an open question of topics for Q communicators in the fall I think you know my initial thought is like introduce them to but other than that if there's a specific anchor we want to give them in from the you can think on it you think that some of the key communicators are actually the same people that might be attending some of these other Google some overlap is 900% is intended to catch people who are not in but some of those groups you know for instance you might if you don't have any kid maybe you're not active in the PTO but you're very interested in the as a taxpayer or an alumni or parents of an alumni misogyny he's realizing maybe you're not familiar with that meets with the board so we are did that kind of is Superhead into these meetings and we basically invited people that like we are done if I set up influential in the commute we also like engaged and what's going on with the district somebody who like in this isn't meant as a negative but like somebody who talks a lot and people listened to him so it might be you so to invite them educate them and form the update them on District business and a forum that's not a board meeting and answer questions and then importantly we listen we always ask what are you hearing what do you think about the way we've been communicating about XYZ issue so primarily last year when we did this we were talking about budget we were talking about the and maybe about it's a maybe I said it's already other districts have the same thing so it's something we copied from others like the whole you know Alana you know maybe like 10 of 30 people, and Emily I would just add Nathan you we all are invited to identify people in our own and invite them as well you know what Dennis tration identifies people but you should feel as though you the guy across the screen Street the keeps harping at you about XYZ should be invited so like I sound like I'll find out if I was like Hey I want I want to hear and so it's not a secret we don't necessarily all the time so I'm trying to talk to members and text better if we just have two members because then we're not boating on anything about two people being there did parents where is in the building leadership linkages work well this past year in the way that they were structured is there other any that we should consider combining or structuring different I feel like the ones I went to I learned a lot from personally I if I were to sign up again I would probably like for my own connection want to go to the different but I also was thinking about joining your history whistle Awards with maybe Lori's is this model effective or is there a different one because there's a lot of work that goes the staff to get families for example the multi language Learners I just think of the work so can we do this again sure is there a better way that's where my brain is that well I think my question partners with yours and I want to get some feedback on it how did it go with the meeting with the special needs Learners and families when we did live and zoom I think you you weren't there were there people online seven families total feel like maybe three or four where online and 3122 who were there 5 online I found it yeah. I'm just commenting dinner and we heard some issues the we could have been taken care of by a parent calling up the teacher or calling the principal of the school gate so it was a setup ensure that the lights were working nature and all of that and then the staff that was their presents and there were five people or seven people start charging enough people to succumb to accomplishment did we create a linkage not very nice but should there have been maybe it's too narrow and you make a group I don't know I mean like for today would it be wise for us to look at the work plan and approved kind of like the old ways and the reports in the district so we can move but I'm almost wondering if there's an opportunity down the road but too Lori about here's our and meet like maybe there is a regularly scheduled more open thing like a town hall kind of thing or doesn't require I don't know make it into a routine where we can start if you like and then we can invite different groups to it within the Ruth I don't know I like that I think I like that I being new to the scene I had no idea what a linkage was it such a bazard wording of it town hall and like I think I know what that is and it sounds like people will be talking and so maybe it's just how do you Brandon help parents understand this thing could help get it in Lake Bluff approve approve this work just discussion other items I noticed we like Jada and I was trying to think of anything else but came up it all looks fine to me. was that totally useless caring for your purposes or is it are we okay no I'm okay I don't think we have a motion but we can show her like then I think we are on to I don't know if you are working 10 to 10 I will second you enjoy the new graphic arts and now is her second opportunity for public comment I learned her some friends if you are calling in on zoom and would like to make a call please unmute yourself any public comments from Zoom participants we will have her third and final you coming up very quickly here at work until 7 I will be breathe a little bit of us but swasa was this morning so you had a late a late breaking board report for me it should be in board books for a butt so that was the great to get an update but as we noted deeply disappointing in terms of the deal that seems to be emerging I think a key point if you're talkin to do members of the public in there looking for clarity a lot of the media reports have kind of group Educational Funding with the shared Revenue discussions and those two were only like because the negotiations were kind of mr. Connected but the shared revenue does not impact school district funding so just to be clear that's something I probably wouldn't have known. God is important to note we talked about special education you know a people finding really falling short of their request so I think or has floppy from their perspective the local government revenue issue really I think we need to Ted took up a lot of the oxygen in terms of the budget discussions and you know became a really dominant when he needs to be resolved however she complimented everyone there in the room and and really all districts were really being consistent in their ask for public education you know my my interpretation of that was like we might not have done anything we had not been so consistently advocating like you know which is a sad statement but honestly like you know like a beetroot it could have been worse but it is disappointing it is not too late to contact legislators in particular members of The Joint payments committee I think important not just to say you know thanks it's not enough but just to now we've all been briefed on the impact to our district or the lack of impact you know we can reach out to them we can encourage your friends to do that I wanted to also touch on the other up our meeting today we talked about the literacy bill that spending and that is still very much in play and taking shape so that's something that we have an opportunity to maybe Advocate it were opposed an unfunded mandate there so that idea here that's taking shape is literacy coaching model for the DP I would have him a team of coaches that would go out between now and 2028 funded by some State money they will go solve the problem and in 2028 all the money goes away cuz apparently they would have solved the problem I'm being sarcastic here in 2028 more likely someone else to be putting the Bell you know or or there have to be another battle to find it according to folks remember who's talking about this I think it's maybe it's for the other superintendents this model has not coaching actually is not strongly supported by evidence has not worked well in other states what does work is a strong percula screeners so fast Bridge came up as a best practice that's what does work I think we are unlikely to get more what does work sadly there was just a lot of agreement until going to go do something about literacy they're going to do something it looks like you're being unfriended me and date so Alan touch on this I think the most problem discussion point right now in that bill is the idea that district will be required to hold back their graders who do not pass some kind of reading assessment these have not even agree on what that assessment would be they've talked about using a screener which is an inappropriate use of aspirin are they have talked about potentially it being bored but forward results don't even come in until August and are not made public school September so I guess you would be telling that are greater in fact they are now I'm going to fourth grade seems like a terrible idea so what when are the other terrible ideas on the tables districts someone pointed out that if they were two for example uses for exam this past year that would have meant 14,000 third graders being held back who tested at below basic level if that would work to be our Benchmark so a terrible idea for many reasons we still being negotiated and thankfully government you were still has a veto so there was discussion about reaching out to the governor's office that that would be a productive way for us to advocate for thing that would work right so like nobody is opposed to doing something about literacy it's the form it takes and maybe staying away from the more problematic ideas coming from their kitchens so or represent you know that that bill again so pending would still have to be signed by the governor and if we find that building problematic you should definitely let him know and reach out to legislators in the meantime maybe give them a chance to at 8. Do you want some candy that is what we got this morning 7 * 3 reporting back to us I appreciate that very much we don't have any other board reports today so I'm we're going to go to superintendent you think it be shorter because it goes over but I've got quite a bit here to talk about cuz this we think about summer so as we closed out the school year I'd like to recognize her a treat I rang staff members Chris Christie Julie Bennett Cathy Daniels Jarrell Saudi John Jacobson Vince Peterson Deb Schwinn and Tony sedita Tony retired earlier in the school year but he's in this year a combined 204 years of service I think when you think about it it's amazing and well this isn't in the report I just think in light of your comments I just want to comment and again I think covid had a lot to do with this so I don't know what are normal is but that's a treat commence across multiple employee groups we were at Penn 11:12 in the last few years so I'm hoping that I'm hoping and yet hope is what we got there but I'm really hoping that that stables and stabilizes in a way that we aren't seeing as many retirement or resignation which is great and again congratulations to our graduates thanks to all our staff and now that we turn the page to Summer it just a few things that are going on board members you know this but for any citizens on the line I'm summer board meetings have a different schedule will be meeting again in June and then on Lori will be taking the helm on July 11th coming to the board meeting for you and August 8th in the annual meeting will be on Tuesday August 22nd we've been reaching out to the sea to come to the negotiation table and I'm hopeful that that could a place in late June I'm not certain that will come to pass I'm given some notification today will be working hard in the summer on Landscaping projects that you approved on May 9th and I just really want to also give a shout out to a wreck creation and Community Services Program I don't have the exact number but I'll try to get it the amount of things that are going on the campus is really buzzing right now with both adults as well as many many many summer experiences for our Amanda Jamerson who's rshs associate principal is again managing summer school which is taking place out of Atwater again which is terrific Derrick Cole was our dean of students there is assisting as well that's been a real seamless and good program and then we're gearing up for professional development coming up in August that's a big piece of what we're working on as well as recruiting for staff vacancies and I'm in a little bit of a gap that I'm working with Kate I'm Watson who recently resigned to just really get that annual report ready to turn over to Lori so that we can get that out in July is my am so we were working on that right now internally and again I just always like to let you in our I know Lori has been doing a really fine job of making connections building relationships you heard me say we have a call stand call tomorrow we've really been in good communication she's also been a part of a meet-and-greet here and she'll be participating in our eyes yes training with staff in a little while I think that's coming up the end of the month if I'm not mistaken I laugh at this because July one really is her first official day even though it's not a it's a work day I shall be attending our all-class reunions and Community picnic and I'm just going to ask you please board members make an effort to attend lots of work is being done to have that I'm be a really special event I'm so I appreciate what everyone is doing to make that a success and there's good that you do and I just think some of the fun things putting a time capsule in and other things opening the Time Capsule and I don't think there's really exciting fun things that will be occurring the day schedule can be viewed on the district website and please register and I know in our office carries been doing a Mainstay and I'd like to think some of our partners in the community that are helping with some of the cost three and as I said we're in that midst of what we do in the summer which is really try to take that breath and learn and so on Thursday we will be spending a fun of 6 hours together looking at both School perceptions results in our school girls plans really it from a school perspective looking at both the district in the school what is it telling us that you do not just admiring the data but really trying to say what are those priorities that will help us and just a shout out Sean is I think he's bringing a smoke around so what a nice way to kick that off and that will be a fun a funny break from the analysis of data that will be doing that day so that's a big piece of that and I'm hopeful and we'll make that happen that will be presenting that school perception data to at the next meeting we got it we got two big items and not a lot of other items on the next agenda so we're gearing up for those Mike is working my joy who couldn't be here tonight is working hard on our two and that's a big report for us right now so just really looking at that so we're just in the first basis of looking at that Trend data and seeing what we have presented their that conclude to the superintendent report I would take any questions on the consent of temperature thank you have a motion for the superintendent's consent agenda good luck to start for Sullivan and his tyranny are well Happy Trails destructive going to work in the wedding industry best wishes. And if anything Zoom indeed like to make a public comment please unmute yourself any public comments thank you thanks asking to let you know us as a group or individually we are going to review our to-do items Emily tell me what I'm missing I've got that we will update the work plan on the web and you will work on the linkages and put that on another discussion agenda comment and and let you know regarding a couple citizen comments tonight and get back to them to you and we'll investigate the maintenance versus Improvement and see what we need to do in terms of that we will follow up internally of course with the oecd's opening that need be taken off the waitlist and we will as soon as the budget is finalized will update the legislative advocacy page on the district website and see if maybe if we can do something more if I can talk some legislators on joint Finance now that we've got some data and I'll do that from the district pain anything else but I had anybody else but in the July Fourth picnic actually we have time but I'm just going to perception that I have on or that next for the next meeting ain't you afraid I'd suggest more later but I need to charge on the items you know I'm right 3M we are going to bring back linkages thank you for today we got through so much in terms of our policies I know we still have a lot of work to do the 12 for me is doing it I think from a year ago we had worked on somebody last things and we just have a I think the best course of action might be just to have a free workshop with Ryan said gold preview and then talk to them as a group maybe just a whale just ballast for 1 hour at a convenient time schedule that Lori can attend if she wishes all right we are going to call since you so what do we do well today and what can we improve on not even mad I am I'm just just going to say have a blessed day done track and I think I really appreciated when we figured out that we weren't at a place where we could do something that we just moved on just hard yes really I really hard it is hard improved you know I don't ever want us to do not discuss things and we have talked about it so many times I thought we give it like just the right tonight about it many times already so great was able to speak to impact when not really like I can't even say that you could still want cuz there's not even if it's just like that was great what's the weather sometimes we just have to admit that I was a really good meeting set alarm. why would say that you know let's have all of our meetings we done in two hours we could do better be like this all the time I don't how do I move the needle on student achievement and equity she was attacked well as I've always said you don't have any money we can't improve student achievement and so we passed out and got the bed not only Budget moving at along but also looking at creating the special maintenance or Improvement that will move forward and all the things we want to get by there cuz we'll have buildings that are in good shape I think long-term stability means a lot for a long time about the need for it so we don't have a lot of control over the student achievement inequities thinking about students learning and you know sometimes we get I've heard some grumbling about you know open enrollment and I feel like it's very much in Allen's of like you know what like if we only have so much money like why would we add more students to and that's that's something I've heard but you know to hear the real impact of community members in to see it and I think it puts people's faces 201 open enrollment is and the value of US appreciate it seen that today always thinking is so I think free weekend and then you know I mean it's it's all state uses to fund education which is annoying but I want to show route to Jo-Ann for her continued grind at the wind-down of this year and the end of your 10 year and the amazing job that you've done but you still a hundred and 10% every day we see it I'm in total denial I just I don't think you're leaving I'm in town did not want that to go unmentioned yeah makes you happy that board member
