Shorewood School Board Seeks to Add Student Representatives

The Board values student input and voice, and in an effort to explicitly include student voices in governance matters, the Board discussed its decision to pursue adding two student representatives to the Board, at Tuesday’s regular meeting.

Each student selected would be asked to participate in one Board meeting per month. Students would be tasked with listening to and deliberating on agenda items, as well as communicating the work of the Board to the rest of the student body.

The Board will vote on this update to their Bylaws at the upcoming Tuesday meeting, on May 28th. Following the vote, the Board plans to encourage students to submit applications by June 14th. The tentative schedule is to interview interested rising sophomores, juniors and seniors the week of June 17th, and then once student representatives are selected, the students would begin their duties in September 2019 with the start of the upcoming school year.

More information will be forthcoming via Infinite Campus in the next few weeks.
