Seven Candidates Apply for Open Shorewood School Board At-Large Member

The Shorewood School District Board of Education received seven applications for the At-Large Board member position to fill a vacancy left by the resignation of Lance Weinhardt. This member will serve through April, 2020.

The remainder of Dr. Weinhardt’s term will be filled by election in Spring of 2020. The third-highest vote-getter in that election will serve a one-year term through April 2021. Additionally, there will be two other seats up for election, currently held by Paru Shah and Pablo Muirhead. The top two vote-getters will serve three-year-terms.

The Board will interview all applicants Monday, August 26, 2019, time is to be determined. Interviews will be 30-60 minutes for each applicant. Interviews may be conducted via video conference.

At the conclusion of the interviews, Board members will schedule a special meeting of the Board. Each Board member’s top choice receives 3 points, second choice 2 points, and third choice 1 point. The three candidates with the most combined points will be identified and will then be voted on again.

Board members will appoint the new member by each casting a single vote for one of the top three candidates. The chosen candidate must receive a majority present during the vote to be appointed.
