Join the District in Building an Equitable Strategic Plan Framework

The Shorewood School District requests community participation in helping District staff build an equitable District Strategic Framework for 2020-2025 that will set priorities to guide the annual strategic planning process. The first of six monthly meetings will be Monday, Oct. 28th, from 6-8 pm in the SHS Library (second floor of the SHS administration building). If interested in participating, please RSVP here so the District can adequately accommodate all attendees.

Background

As the District enters into the midway point of its 10-year school district vision that was set at the Shorewood School Summit in 2015-2016, it is important that time is taken together--as staff, students, families and community members--to recalibrate the system and make sure the District is aligning its priorities with its vision of the school district in 2025. A lot has been learned over the last 5 years and it's important to take some time together to celebrate the accomplishments and apply the lessons learned to improve the experiences of Shorewood students and families as the District moves forward.

To that end, Superintendent Bryan Davis is working with Sam Coleman, Director for Equity, on an opportunity for all staff, family members, SIS and SHS Students and community members to participate together in a series of six 2-hour monthly meetings that will result in identifying priorities for the 2020-2025 Shorewood School District Strategic Framework.

The initial meeting will be Monday, October 28th from 6 - 8 pm in the SHS Library. More information, including the entire schedule of meetings, can be found here. The meetings will include three sessions of Equity Training followed by three sessions of prioritizing areas of focus under the themes established at the Shorewood School Summit: Academic Mastery, Character and Citizenship, Wellness and School Staff. Participation in the first three sessions will inform the last three sessions on setting priorities. Please plan on attending all the sessions.

After the confirmation of the priorities for the 2020-2025 Strategic Framework, the District Leadership Team (comprised of District staff) will convene to create the 2020-2021 Strategic Plan that will align the priorities of the Strategic Framework with district objectives and action steps for next school year. Progress on the objectives and actions steps will be reported each year to the community at the District's Annual Meeting in August and the Mid-Year Review in February.

The District believes it is critical for staff, students, families, and community members to engage in these sessions to learn deeper about equity together in order to improve the Shorewood Schools system. Again, if you are interested in participating, please RSVP here. With any further questions, you may contact the Office of the Superintendent at 414.963.6901 or email [email protected].

The District hopes to see you on Oct. 28th.
