Facilities & COVID-19 Updates

Dear Shorewood Families,

As we close out October, I want to share a few important updates with you regarding the referendum facilities work being done in our schools.

Before I do that though, I’d like to provide a quick COVID-19 update from the North Shore Health Department. As of today, October 30, the North Shore will move back into Phase B of our reopening plan. The move back to Phase B is in response to the significant increase of COVID-19 in our region.  You can learn more about the Phase B Guidelines here and view the Phases Summary Chart here. I cannot stress enough the importance of following these guidelines and encourage you to remind your students of the proper protocols (face coverings, hand washing, physical distancing, etc.) as we head into Halloween weekend. Thank you for doing your part to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Regarding our facilities work, it’s hard to believe that it has been nearly five years since our community identified “modernizing and maintaining our historic facilities” as a top District priority. It’s been extremely rewarding to see the progress up to this point on upgrades to safety and security, increases to ADA accessibility, improvements to our building systems and infrastructure, and the modernization of our learning spaces.

To show families the construction progress that has been made at each school, we have created short facilities walkthrough videos which can be viewed below.

Another detailed update on our facilities progress will be shared with families prior to Winter Break, so please look out for that information.

I am proud of all that we have achieved together so far, and I look forward to seeing the ways that our updated facilities will support all students at all schools as well as the larger community.

Take care and be well,

Dr. Bryan Davis
Shorewood Schools Superintendent
