District Launches Planned Giving Campaign in Partnership with SEED Foundation

The Shorewood School District has announced the launch of a planned giving campaign in partnership with the Supporters of Excellence in Educational Development (SEED) Foundation to build an endowment that will provide long-term, sustainable support for school needs.

The purpose of this new planned giving campaign is to establish the Educate Forward Endowment Fund, which will help to:
  • Create an ongoing source of annual support for our schools
  • Build long-term financial stability
  • Offer greater flexibility to respond to needs and address future challenges
  • Relieve pressure on annual campaign fundraising activities and events
  • Establish a vehicle for long-term investment to support Shorewood public education
The COVID-19 pandemic has helped bring into focus the need to fundraise not only for short-term needs, but also to build support for the long-term, helping the school district prepare for new and unforeseen obstacles in the future.

The SEED Foundation is an all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)(3) community organization dedicated to supporting Shorewood public schools. Since its launch in 2003, SEED has raised millions in partnership with the Shorewood School District to support public education in Shorewood. Each year, the SEED Foundation provides grants for Shorewood teachers to make sure they have the resources they need to deliver the best possible educational experience to students. The Educate Forward Endowment Fund will help build a robust, sustainable resource to continue this grant support in perpetuity. Through the growth of Educate Forward, the SEED Foundation will partner with the Shorewood School District to secure the financial resources necessary to continue its tradition of excellence and innovation in education.

So far, the SEED Foundation has already raised nearly $500,000 for the Educate Forward Endowment Fund, almost halfway to the $1 million dollar goal for December 2021. Ultimately, the SEED Foundation seeks to raise a total of $2 million for the endowment by the end of 2022. At that point, the fund would provide an annual distribution of grant funds worth approximately $100,000 per year, giving Shorewood teachers and students the resources they need, and ensuring a sustainable financial future for the district.
