Swing Meets Showcase: Student Performance Opportunity

Typically, each November, SHS Drama puts on the AFS Showcase which benefits AFS--an international youth exchange organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to our high school students-- but this year they something a little different.

SHS Drama is partnering with the SEED Foundation to craft a performance that not only showcases the talents of SHS students, but also the talents of students at Atwater, Lake Bluff, and SIS. The performance will be streamed for the community on April 10 at the Swing Meets Showcase* virtual event.

Therefore, SHS Drama is asking that any student performers (musicians, dancers, performers, jugglers, etc.) interested in contributing a piece to this year's expanded presentation, complete the Swing Meets Showcase Performance Application here.  If interested in participating, please read through the criteria for selection and performance requirements carefully, answer the form as thoroughly as possible, and be sure to attach a submission video.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, March 18, by 11:59pm and students will be notified of submission acceptance by Sunday March 28 via email.

With any further questions, please feel free to contact SHS Drama Director, Adam Sheaffer at [email protected]

What is Swing Meets Showcase?

SWING WITH SHOREWOOD is SEED’s annual fundraiser that raises funds to enhance educational opportunities for the Shorewood School District. It typically takes place at Discovery World with raffles, auction, dinner, and dancing.

SHOWCASE is an annual event that blends the theatrical, musical and other artistic talents of the Shorewood High School student community for a dynamic evening of entertainment and enrichment. Not only is the yearly event driven by student talent, but also student leadership, as a handful of capable and enthusiastic student directors help to shape this presentation for the Shorewood community!

SWING MEETS SHOWCASE is a COVID-friendly solution that merges these two events into one spectacular virtual event! This event will highlight the talents of the amazing Shorewood students. The District and SEED are very excited for this collaboration and hope you will join in the fun on April 10th at 7pm.
