District Welcomes Laurie Burgos as New Superintendent

The District is excited to announce that the Shorewood School Board will be voting to appoint Laurie Burgos as Shorewood’s new Superintendent at the April 11th Board meeting.

The Board would like to thank the parents/caregivers, students, teachers, and administrators who assisted with the interviews and provided important feedback for their consideration. The Board benefited immensely from the community's time and patience with the process.

Ms. Burgos has a demonstrated commitment to equity, building and mentoring teams, working with all stakeholders, and bringing growth opportunities to all students. Currently, Ms. Burgos is the Superintendent of the Evansville School District; prior to Evansville, she worked in both the Verona and Racine school districts as a teacher and administrator. Ms. Burgos is currently completing her PhD at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

“I am truly honored and humbled to serve the Shorewood community as the next Superintendent,” she says. “I look forward to working with students, staff, families, and community members to build upon the strong tradition of excellence that defines the Shorewood School District and advance the mission of equity, growth, and excellence for all. Together, we will write a new chapter for a vibrant future.”

Ms. Burgos will begin her role with the District on July 1, 2023. The Board will host an official meet and greet for the school community later in August. More information on this will be forthcoming.

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Burgos to Shorewood!
