Welcome New Girls SHS Basketball Coach

Shorewood High School is proud to announce the selection of the new basketball coach for the 2023-24 season. Karynda Dupree has been appointed as our Girls Basketball Head Coach.

 

Coach Karynda was born and raised in Milwaukee, where she attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School. 

For the past five years, she has been working in case management serving primarily the adult population providing service coordination and care planning of mental health, substance abuse, and medical services. Coach Karynda also worked as a program manager and mentor for STRYV365, a local nonprofit that engages at-risk youth in athletics and trauma-informed activities. Coach Karynda works for the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council as a program services coordinator. 

Coach Karynda played NCAA Division 1 basketball at Iona University in New Rochelle, NY, where she was co-captain of the first championship team in Iona’s women’s basketball history. Leading the team as captain for her final two seasons, she was also a Student Athletic Advisory Committee member. She earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team Honors in 2016. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Diversity and Social Welfare. 

Coach Karynda returned to the game by starting her coaching career in 2020, working with a local girls’ travel AAU team. Most recently, Coach Karynda has assisted several local girls’ basketball programs with training and coaching junior varsity and varsity teams at St. Francis High School, Wauwatosa West, and Milwaukee Lutheran

 

We welcome our new head coach and anticipate great performances from our student-athletes next year. Go Greyhounds!
