Thank you, Principal Ovalle-Krolick!

Principal at Lake Bluff Elementary

Anytime you walk into Lake Bluff and run into Alejandra, she has a smile on her face and a calming presence about her. She engages with her students and staff and think kids think she's so funny! Alejandra has been an educator since 2007 and was a high school teacher until 2019. After her years as a high school teacher, she became an assistant principal and then a principal in an elementary school. This is her second year in Shorewood and she is beyond proud to be the principal of Lake Bluff Elementary school!

What do you like best about being a school principal?
This is an impossible question to answer because there are so many things to choose from. I absolutely love working with learners. They make my heart so happy and are just the greatest. Our learners are so insightful, so thoughtful, and so incredible. Every day that I am able to interact with them leaves me with joyous moments and amazing quotes. I also absolutely love getting to work with our staff. Working on different projects to better service our learners is inspiring. Overall I just feel incredibly grateful to serve. Every once in a while I try to remind students that what we do here every day is completely unique. That is a pretty special thing!

Who inspires you and why?
My mom really inspires me. She is so determined and so full of love and optimism. She is my biggest fan and always does such a wonderful job of helping me see the potential in everything. She also did a fantastic job of instilling in me the value of a good and well rounded education. She did not have half of the opportunities that I have been given and I certainly do not take that for granted.

If you could give your students one piece of life advice, what would it be?
Oh my! I honestly feel like I learn so much from them! I truly think that our school motto sums it up so well. "Be kind, work hard, have fun!" Kindness matters. How we treat others and how we feel about others and ourselves matters. Working hard matters. Every day is a new opportunity to do something great. We can also work incredibly hard and be kind and still have fun. We are so lucky to have the crew that we have. We are so lucky to be in the community that we are in. Our building is a joyful place and we have a fantastic time!

The Shorewood School District thanks you for being a wonderful leader at Lake Bluff Elementary School! Your staff and the students are incredibly lucky to have you as their principal!
