Thank you, Principal Kenney & Associate Principal Jamerson

SHS Principals

Tim and Amanda have been described as positive, welcoming, joyful, and understanding. They, along with their staff members, make SHS an incredible place for our students. Between the two of them, they have over 47 years of experience! Principal Kenney has been in education for 37 years, and Amanda's been in education for over 10 years. They both bring something unique to their role and compliment one another well.

Get to Know Principal Kenney
Principal Kenney loves Shorewood and has spent his whole career in education dedicated to this wonderful community. He's understanding, kind, and has an office filled with snacks. Pop-tarts seem to be a fan favorite amongst the students!

What do you like best about being a school principal?
There are SO many things, but probably the number one thing would be watching students grow academically, socially and emotionally on a daily basis and celebrating with them as they achieve their goals.

Who inspires you and why?
Again, I find inspiration in a lot of areas, but I have to pick one, so I am going to go with my wife, Regina Kenney. She is always there for me on tough days, celebrates the wins with me on the great days, but in particular, she encourages me to keep pushing to be better and better and supporting that along the way because it can be a lot :)

If you could give your students one piece of life advice, what would it be?
When life throws you challenges, regardless of what it is, look into the mirror first to think about your own behaviors and responses to the challenge. Chase the positive and healthy response. Own it.

Get to know Associate Principal Jamerson
Amanda celebrates 10 years in education and three years in the Shorewood School District. She's joyful, determined, and keeps the kids in line (and they love her for it!)

What do you like best about being a school principal?
Leadership has allowed me to maximize my potential in impacting a greater community of learners. I love working with scholars and celebrating alongside the triumphs that they make, but the classroom had limitations on how many I could impact. Being a school administrator has aided me in training and developing teachers to experience the same joys that I’ve experienced in my classroom. Seeing my teachers win with my scholars is the most joyous part of being the Associate Principal at SHS!

Who Inspires you and why?
Seeing my father’s dedication to serving and protecting as a father and husband has inspired me to be the servant leader that I am today. My father never allowed a need to be unmet while simultaneously nurturing my family’s well-being. He’s truly my hero and the exemplar of loving Christ and loving people.

If you could give your students one piece of life advice, what would it be?
Embrace your youth; dare to dream, take risks, explore the world, invest and discover self, and cherish the beauty of connection.

The Shorewood School District thanks you for being wonderful leaders at Shorewood High School! Your staff and students are incredibly lucky to have you as their principals!
