SHS Hires New Head Coach for Varsity Girls Basketball Team

Former UW-Milwaukee standout James Wright is joining the Shorewood High School (SHS) coaching staff for the 2018-19 school year as head Varsity Girls Basketball coach.
 
“I am pleased that James has accepted the opportunity to continue his coaching career with the Shorewood School District,” said SHS Athletic Director LeVar Ridgeway. “After a search of many qualified candidates, the committee was impressed with James and his motivation, drive and vision for our program. We are excited to have him on board.”
 
Wright’s extensive background in basketball includes playing for the UW-Milwaukee Panthers Men’s team during which UW-Milwaukee won three Horizon League regular-season titles, three Horizon League Tournament crowns and played in three NCAA Tournaments including the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2004 -05. As head coach, Wright led the Vincent High School girls program to a 91-67 (.576) record in seven seasons with the program. He was also named the 2018 City Conference Coach of the Year.
 
When asked about his new venture with the SHS Girls Basketball team, Wright stated, "I'm so excited to continue my coaching career here at Shorewood High School this is a great opportunity to share the basketball knowledge I have learned over the years as a player and a coach with this program. I’m looking forward to continuing the winning tradition of the program and introducing myself to the Shorewood community. GO GREYHOUNDS!"
 
Wright begins his duties as SHS Girls Basketball Head Coach effective immediately.
