Welcome Letter from Principal

Welcome!

Shorewood Intermediate School is a diverse learning community where students develop a positive sense of self; strive to achieve their fullest potential and become responsible individuals through a variety of opportunities. The staff of SIS are proud of the programs we offer students and the opportunities they provide.

SIS instructs approximately 300 students in grades 7 and 8. Our academic philosophy ensures that each student has the opportunity to succeed. Shorewood Intermediate School has strong academics in Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. Our Physical Education/Health classes meet every day. Students also take a semester each of Art and Project Lead the Way at each grade level. Every student is expected to take either Spanish or French. Performance music is also required. Students can choose between Band, Orchestra, and Choir. Our school maintains a strong Response to Intervention model offering support in the subject areas of Math and Language Arts. We also offer students Advanced Learning opportunities in Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science throughout the school year.

Shorewood Intermediate School focuses on providing students with authentic learning opportunities in which students engage in research and reflection to advance their learning and present high-quality work to audiences beyond the classroom. These educational experiences help prepare students for the future in college, careers, and beyond.

At Shorewood Intermediate School, our staff is also committed to developing a strong Character Education program that promotes a school free from bullying.
