Sharon received a BS in Exceptional Education from UW-Madison in 1978, with concentrations in Early Childhood Exceptional Needs, Cognitive Disabilities and Behavioral/Emotional Disabilities; and she received Wisconsin teaching licenses in all three areas. Sharon worked for several years as a special education teacher for preschool-age children before taking a break to stay at home with her young children. Returning to teaching, Sharon earned a post-baccalaureate degree in Education and received Wisconsin teaching certification for Pre-K through grade three. Sharon has taught preschool, four-year-old kindergarten and first grade during the last several years in the Whitefish Bay, Shorewood and Oak Creek school districts. In 2004, Sharon welcomed the opportunity to design, plan and launch a brand new preschool program in Shorewood: Bright Beginnings Preschool. The 2004-05 school year was a very exciting and successful start to what has proved to be an exemplary program. Sharon's focus in teaching is the development of positive self concept and the encouragement of each child's natural love of learning. She achieves these goals by providing a stimulating, creative curriculum and classroom environment which enable each child to freely explore and grow intellectually and emotionally. Sharon has lived in Shorewood since 1983 and is proud of the excellent educations her two sons and two daughters received in the Shorewood schools, and is happy to be touching the lives of Shorewood's very youngest through Bright Beginnings.

Elizabeth earned her degree in Political Science from Loyola University, and then pursued a graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University.  She worked for several years before taking time off to raise her three children.  Her youngest attend Bright Beginnings!  Elizabeth enjoys working with preschool age children.  She is very excited to assist Ms. Maier in fostering a nurturing, imaginative, creative and stimulating learning environment.  Elizabeth has a daughter at Atwater Elementary and a daughter at Shorewood High School.

Classrooms for '20-'21 School Year

The Shorewood School Board has voted to hold virtual classes through the first quarter of the school year, September 8 - November 6.  The hope is to bring students back for face to face instruction in a hybrid model (part face to face in the classroom and part virtual) for the second quarter.  With this in mind, our Bright Beginnings staff will be working with the Kindergarten teachers to explore developing a learning model that can serve our youngest learners.  Our hope would be to eventually bring the Bright Beginnings students back to the classroom sometime between the 2nd quarter and the first of the year.  This will be based on the recommendation of the Shorewood School District.
