Marcia Spector

Marcia Spector (Class of 1962, Received Award in 2012)

Marcia Spector served on the Shorewood School Board from 1979 -1990, functioning as president from 1984 to 1988. She became the Executive Director of Seeds of Health, Inc. in 1986 and through its Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program, provided health care to high risk pregnant women. Her proposal to start a school for school-age parents was accepted by Milwaukee Public Schools, and in 1988 Seeds of Health opened its first educational program serving twenty-five at-risk students. Seeds of Health has grown to employ a staff of over 115 and provides educational programs to over 1,200 students on the elementary and high school level in specialized charter schools that serve specific student populations.
